I would easily pay $1.99-$2.99 for a regular mp3 of this one if the video was downloadable from archive.org.

Just putting that out there.....

I'm with you.  I'm all for free Divx but, not that excited about it otherwise.

On the other hand, I also don't mind missing the "riff." It's nice to have it available at all I suppose, for those who want to consume mass quantities of Divx goodness.
mike5150 how tall are you?.....in gallons?

It's a good idea, people seem to be demanding it, so we'll see. It might be good to have a version for the people who aren't savvy enough to find where to get the video - if we could've done it for the SWHS, obviously we would've.

Doubt it'll be 1.99 though.

No doubt it is a good idea to put out video pre-synced when you are able, especially if you are dealing with PD materials.

Too low? Too high?

Sign me up for the mp3 too.  I'd rather make my own and these shorts are pretty easy to find.

I'd also pay extra for the mp3, or an unencumbered video file, so that I could put it on my iPod or a DVD.  The DivX file is much less useful to me, enough so that I might pass on it.

I agree!  I'd much rather sync it myself if it means I can burn a DVD, and there's an inexhaustible supply of downloadable shorts over at archive.org.

I support pre-synched videos, even if that means making myself an outcast.

...

I'm going to agree with these guys. This thing with DivX isn't heading down the right path for me personally...

Which would be cool if they were to offer both. Make everyone happy.

I concur with the crowd on this one, I'd much rather have the mp3 and sync the video myself, rather than have a copy-protected Divx file.

For short stuff like this, and also the low quality of the source, I don't mind the Divx thing, this is exactly the kind of thing that could be plastered all over youtube in no time so it does protect Rifftrax.

For longer stuff, I hope it doesn't become the norm, if it were legal and they did the star wars special this way I would not have seen it, it would have been way too large of a download for my DSL connection.

If RiffTrax were to sell disks with collections of divx files burned onto them for a nominal fee (a few dollars plus shipping), then people could buy the .tix files to unlock the video files they want to watch, that might be an interesting way to do this divix thing for those of us not interested in VOD.  Although I wouldn't want that to become the norm either, since who knows how long divx will exist and it limits your viewing options.

I like it as it is, nothing has made me happier since I started getting on demand riffs this week. It has also made me spend a lot more money here as previously I had been too lazy to go out and buy a DVD of a lousy movie and then struggle to synch it up with the riff.
