Audio/Video Trouble... Along With Update Trouble

I am trying the player out with the Raiders of the Lost Ark rifftrax file. I have the PowerDVD player installed as well with its audio/video codecs selected in the video/audio settings (along with many other tried combos). My results?

The rifftrax loads up with the DVD, but the sound and video, although displaying and heard, are almost like they are sped up and are all choppy. And with the sound you can't understand a thing.

Not only that but I tried to update the player with its automatic update thing... it will download the update, but once it does, it says there is some unknown error, and then it forces me to close it, making me only be able to play the current version I have.

I have now realized that the stuttering applies to ALL my applications that plays DVDs (Windows Media, Power DVD, etc). What happened to my DVD player?! lol. Anyone know how to fix this problem for me?
