I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem.  It always takes me two tries to log in to the forum, even if I type my username and password correctly the first time.  Does anyone know why it's doing this?

This has somthing to do with what link you use to get to the forum. I think if you use the link from the website, then you'll get the double login.

Yeah. I think it's a cookie issue, since the web site links to www.rifftrax.com and the banner here links to rifftrax.com As far as cookies are concerned, those are two different domains.

I tested this issue, and it is something I was able to replicate. If, for instance, I click from http://rifftrax.com and click on the forum link, I get the double login prompt. However, if I go directly to www.rifftrax.com/smf OR rifftrax.com/smf, I am only asked to login once.

I also have noticed this happens to a few other users, so I would like to ask: how is everyone getting to the site? Are you clicking from the homepage, or do some of you have the forum page bookmarked? (I would recommend the latter, of course.)

I'll look into this and see what can be done.

I bookmarked it from the link on the homepage. So I get the double login, but I just do it twice...it doesn't bother me too much.

edit: I just cleared my cookies and re-bookmarked it by manualy typing in the link. And I now only have to login once.

I only have that problem at home on my Windows XP Home PC using Firefox. I didn't try it on IE or any other browser.

At work, on my Mac G5 using Safari, I never have to log in more than once, and it never says my password is incorrect. And it doesn't matter if I follow the link from the homepage or go directly to the forum log in page via bookmark.

You guys are saying something about cookies, and that might be it. I have Firefox set to remember the name and password, and all that does is keeps it in the fields, but I still have to click the "log in" button. For the record, I use the bookmark that takes me directly to the log in page. And for some reason, if I log out, and leave the page up, it shows my name and password are still in the proper fields. If I click the log in button again, it always logs me in the first time.

Weird, huh?

I go to www.rifftrax.com, then I click on the roundtable link, I sign in, I get the error, I sign in and I'm in. Then I stay logged in "forever" so I don't have to worry about it again until I clear out my cookies. :^)

Okay, this should be fixed now - please test it if you can. The cookies have been set to be subdomain-independent. I tested it myself and that seems to have solved the issue. Feel free to let me know here in this thread if any of you continue to have issues logging in.

Not weird at all, that sounds like Firefox's "Remember my password" function is working correctly!
