It was an okay movie. But if you ask me, the movie plodded on for far too long and the climax tried so hard to mimic plot points from The Godfather I and II that it was almost beat for beat exactly like it. There was lots of betrayal, and lots of Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington. There was a lot of drama, sure but for my money it was wholly unbalanced and very pretentious, and boring. Not bad, it's probably worth seeing at least once but in my opinion you won't be watching it more than once.

I wish they would've given some text flashes occasionally showing what year it was.  You never get a sense of how much time has passes throughout the film until the very end.

That was actually one of the cooler parts of the film I thought.  You get all your "how much time has passed" info from natural in-scene objects.  Like you can see the date on the peice of paper when he passes the bar exams, there's things about the war going on on the TV, etc.  It's subtle, but it's pretty clever.
