Hello, am newly registered here, though I've been hanging around the site for a while now.   Figured I would try and de-lurk, if thats still the correct term (it was like 10 years ago, honest.)  I look forward to attempting to contribute something meaningful to the various conversations.

...On a side note, I'd be interested to know how much time people take to try and think of something witty/humorous for their first post, so as to not sound like a complete tool right off the bat.  I spent about 3.5 minutes and just decided to give up.  Any other new folk willing to fess up?

Excellent!  I've always felt the letter K was underused in the naming universe.  Just out of curiosity, do you find it irritating having a unique spelling to a fairly common name?

Not really, I kind of like it. Now and then it's a conversation starter. "Oh, the Norse Viking way of spelling it! Are you descended from .. ?" etc etc. The only time it can be irritating is when, for example, the girl at Starbucks writes my name on the cup with a "C" or when the person behind the counter at Rubio's spells it "Erick" just to make sure she got one of the two spelling conventions at once.

I think it'd be more of a pain if my name was spelled "Aryk" or something wacky.
