MST3K as Rifftrax?

I have a poll going on the forrestcrow mst3k board (http://forrestcrow.proboards47.com/index.cgi?board=mstchat&action=display&thread=1161838917).

Since I cain't figure out how to do a poll here, I'll simply ask.

Is anyone up for MST3K commentary (audio only), for the rights-expired films, released as Rifftrax?

I realize that if Rhino is having difficulty getting rights to a film, inidividual fans might have trouble finding the exact version used for the original source movie.

Anyway, taking that into account (or ignoring it) -- what do you think?
HEY, THANKS FOR RIFFTRAX-ING THE APPLE!

I don't see how it would work at all. MST3K movies were routinely edited by BBI for content and time constraints so syncing to what might be available would be a nightmare.

Or better yet, do a Rifftrack for an MST3k film....like one of the Joel ones or over one of the KTMA Relics that's bumping around the internet...  :D

The trouble is that if it was already done on MST, then its already been done on MST.  :)

Another issue is availability.  How many people own a copy of "The Matrix" vs. say "Humanoid Woman?"

Why retread the same ground when there is so much fodder on the field?

You know, I think the idea behind Kevin, Mike, and Bill's "The Film Crew" is more akin to MST3K, what with the old B-movies and all three guys commenting...

Rifftrax is more for the modern age of filmmaking.

What would really bake your noodle would be if Mike did a Rifftrax for MST3K The Movie.  Would it cause the universe to fold back in on itself?  Or would it just give everyone a big headache?  Discuss.

Actually, now that I re-read Shortstack's post, that is what she meant also.  Mike riffing over people riffing on a movie.  I think it already made my head explode and it hasn't even happened.

Pak-Man

Now we've done it. "Bake your noodle" is gonna become a catch phrase around here. Thank you, riff-off. :^)

I think what your looking for TC is the Film Crew stuff which will be VERY close to MST3K and will be DVD releases...

I'm hoping there'll be than one DVD release from the Film Crew next year.  I'm hoping for something like a bi-monthly release scehdule.  That would be awesome.

I agree, Rifftrax and Film Crew sort of serve two different purposes

Ya, that's basically what I was driving at...for some reason my mind's eye was seeing that episode of "Who's Line is it Anyway" where they trick Colin into doing commentary for clips of himself on a green-screen... it was hysterical and bizarre at the same time.

Definately. Rifftrax is more for people who probably couldn't sit through a horrible B movie even with Mike and the gang and The Film Crew seems to be for the people like us who dont care how bad the movie is and just want to hear the funny stuff!
