Between Rifftrax, The Film Crew, Cinematic Titanic and now the 'Bots are Back, it really makes me wonder why they don't all just get together and do MST3K for DVD.

Is Jim Mallon gumming up the works with rights and such? Or maybe they feel that MST3K was for a season and now they've moved on... to doing almost the exact same thing.

I truly, truly hope that Joel's endeavors of this new old project of his is as genuine as when he first started it.  But he did originally leave the whole MYSTIE thing behind.  Mike kept it going in all sorts of different ways.  He never left it.  He appreciated the love us fans had for it and succeeded in  bringing it back in the vehicles of Film Crew, RiffTrax and Legend Films.  

Now Hodgsen and Mallon step back in after they see what Mike has been able to accomplish.  Jim Mallon takes the mst3k.com site, and Joel claims his project has the ORIGINAL cast members.  What an insult!  I wish they had just re-joined Mike in making the best products ever!  But maybe as Jinto had mentioned the competition might up the quality.

The 'Bots toon was pretty stinko. But I wouldn't be so hard on old Joel. I've worked on things that felt stale after a while, set them aside and then later went back, picked them up and felt good about the work. Maybe for Joel, Trace, Frank, Josh and Mary Jo it was similar.

I'd still love to see them all just to MST again, but until Cinematic Titanic debuts I'll withhold my judgment.

I don't believe Joel would even be doing something if Mike had not shown that it can still be profitable.  Like I pointed out Joel has not done anything in this field since he left it far behind.  Of course I hope that this it not the case.  Riffing movies could become the national pastime with all sots of parties jumping in, as long as it is quality.

Has nobody noticed that  Mary Jo has been involved in Both.  Maybe there isn't a line drawn in the sand.  And as far as the ORIGINAL comment it's not like they are claiming that they are head writer for the show or misleading on their title.  He wasn't claiming he was solely responsible for the success of the show or anything like that.  They were there at the start.  Just think of how man people were fans of the show but don't know all of the cast members by name.  Joel didn't even use his real name on the show after the KTMA season.  I don't think it's a crime to state what you've done in the past.  Original isn't a slam on anyone.  And it has been 15 years since Joels been on tv on a regular basis,  I doubt I would have recognized him on the street.

I agree totally!  When i went to see what new stuff they had for you to buy at the shop they all really kind of sucked.  The MST3K planet doesnt even look the same if you want to buy a shirt or something. *grumble* how can i be a fan when the memorabilia is not even what it originally looked like?

When I was watching MST3k on Comedy Central back in the day, I would have never thought it would eventually come to this.

This whole "Team Mike", "Team Joel", "Team Jim" thing is kinda awkward.

I'd like to see a healthy Rifftrax/Film Crew/Cinematic Titanic relationship with lots of cross-guesting. Somehow, I doubt it'll happen. If they were truly interested in keeping the fanbase pleased and maximizing positive feedback, they'll(Joel and Mike) realize that they did they're best work when they were working together.

Mike Guest Riffing Alongside Joel and Trace for "CT". Joel and/or Trace Riffing Alongside Mike and Kevin and/or Bill for "RT". Sounds Good to me. How about You Guys?

Also, if these guys can find their war to work together in this fashion, perhaps they could find the motivation to do something to save the new MST3k.com.
