I read how Joel and his crew have been invited to do a live show for LucasFilms... for I.L.M and LucasFilms employees and guests only.

What?

Um yeah that's what Joel posted in the announcement on the website, the reason there is this 11 page thread. It's the reason a lot of people think they are riffing something lucas/lucasfilm related (the Holiday Special is a common guess or Howard the Duck) since they are clearly working with Lucasfilm before even going public. Could also just be Joel/Trace/Josh is close friends with some Lucasfilm bigwigs.

I don't think Joel mentioned a timetable. I wonder how long we'll have to wait for a clue as to when to expect something more from CT.

He did say in time for Christmas, which isn't that far.

Phantom of Krankor

So what exactly IS Cinematic Titanic? A riffed movie? I don't really get it.

Either way, I'm happy to see Joel again! It'll be just like the old days.
I am Ambassador Phantom, from the planet Krankor! I am rapidly approaching your planet... in the warship, which you have just seen. I will arrive tomorrow night at precisely eight o'clock. At that time I shall make my wishes known to you. You will obey them... or die! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!

12 (at least) riffed movies, for download or dvd sales.

Ok, here's my wild, ridiculous guess:

The phrase "Cinematic Titanic" is describing the movie, i.e., something that was created with high expectations and much effort but failed completely. So, carrying through with that analogy, the "riffers" are on the movie "boat" hanging onto the scaffolding (on the "bow"). Every time something stupid happens in the movie, it's called an "iceberg" and the ship shakes side-to-side ala "Star Trek". When something REALLY stupid happens, they yell "Man the lifeboats" and leave the "bow". Cut to their lifeboat, where they discuss the movie (like a MST3K host segment), then eventually get back on the ship for the rest of the movie. And...uh...at the end they find the "Heart of the Ocean" necklace...or something.........perhaps they don life vests and hang out in the water and get rescued...

Yes, it's either going to be 12 or 500 (or somewhere in between).  ;)

Nothing personal, but I hope you're way off with your prediction.

You did see the part where I mention that it's a "ridiculous" guess, right?

BEERxTaco

Oh yeah, and I didn't mean any ill will, I just hope you're wrong lol

I'm sure this will be pretty entertaining, and cleaver...considering the audience he is gearing this towards.

Great, now I can't get the image of Joel with a meat cleaver attacking bad movies out of my head.  Then again, he'd probably be able to make that funny, he's a pretty clever guy.

Yes, I'm so excited about the news now that I have nothing more to add than to pick on someone's spelling, and that's coming from someone with notoriously bad spelling.

Joel must have come up with something really special to convince everyone to go 'back to the well' with him.

They said they are doing 12 movies only, or they got liscenses for 12 movies? I hope they do more than 12. I am so glad this is happening. Now that everyone is doing something again, we don't have to worry about what they will or wont do. I remember a few interviews with Mary Jo, and she said that on MST3K, they wanted to do a movie called "Moment By Moment" but couldn't get the licensing completed. I wonder if they will do it for Cinamatic Titantic. And five riffers might seem a little much. We'll have to see how this turns out.
