I suppose I should finally actually introduce myself...

[doggans]

...after lurking for a long time and playing a few Mafia games, it might be nice if I let you all know who I am, and stuff.

I go by David, or Dave, or doggans, or that babbling idiot...feel free to be creative with your names for me. Like any human being with a good soul, I'm a longtime MST3K fan. I don't remember how I first discovered RiffTrax (random MST3K-related web surfing, I believe), but I was overjoyed at the thought that Mike, Bill, and Kevin were back, doing what they do best, for whatever movie they wanted, without licensing limitations. Being the geek that I am, I bought the commentaries for Lord of the Rings and Star Wars right away, and loved them. Since then, I've gone on to buy several others, although I still have a fair bit of catching up to do (the plight of the poor college student who can't afford to pay five bucks for a DVD at Wal*Mart AND an additional three bucks for a funny commentary ).

I was also a regular Geekza listener (having known Hanel and Fig from various other websites and forums), and they started heavily promoting RiffTrax and had Mike as the show's guest and all that stuff. Around this time, I finally registered for the forum, although I basically just sat around and lurked for...ever...until Hanel started recruiting Geekza listeners to play Mafia. Well, who am I to resist a good game of Mafia? So I lost a few games, and then realized that none of you know who I am, which brings us to the present.

Let's see, what else...I'm a 20-year-old junior in college majoring in Film. When asked what my all-time favorite movie is, I say it's a tie between Casablanca (yeah, it's a cop-out film major answer, but Bogart is awesome) and the Back to the Future trilogy. I'm a proud geek, and actually enjoyed parts of the Star Wars prequels (I said *parts* of the prequels!). Favorite authors are Tolkien, Douglas Adams, and PG Wodehouse. In addition to MST3K, comedy influences include Bob Newhart, the Pythons, and "Weird Al" Yankovic.

I think that pretty much covers it for now. I swear the rest of my posts won't be nearly this long.
