Ok, I have a question regarding the DIVX version of this rifftrax - Will we be able to download it, and then burn that download to DVD easily? And will that DVD that we burn play in most dvd players?

There is a free program called DVD Flick that will take any type of video file, add extra audio tracks or subtitles to it if you want, and make the file into a DVD. If I feel my hard drive is starting to get bloated with movies, I'll just toss 'em through DVD Flick and make 'em into DVDs.

DVD Flick is really quite good. I've been able to burn all my seasons of Trailer Park Boys to DVD, and it looks great. In fact I just burned a 2-hour, 1.4 gig Divx Avi to DVD using DVD Flick, and when watching it on my DVD player, could not tell any loss in quality. In fact, it had the same sound and picture quality as a normal DVD.

So I would recommend that program. Very easy and intuitive to use. All you really have to do is select whatever DVD size(Usually 4.7 does the trick) will fit your files on there, mess around to get the options you want, then click burn. It can take anywhere from 2 hours to 4 hours to do so.

(I think Missile to the Moon would take closer to 2 hours.)

Anyway, you can get it for free at www.dvdflick.net

MAC users have all the fun things, like pictures and music...

You guys also have GarageBand, which I am very jealous of.

I haven't talked to the DIVX people personally about our partnership, so I can't say 100%, but I think that the way these files work is that they can be played on the computer, and they can be burnt to a DVDr and played in a DIVX compatible DVD player.  So your options are watch on computer, watch on computer's video out to TV or burn to DVDr and watch on compatible DVD player.

You can take a look at their new DivX Author software, but i don't see the option to export video to DVD. I'm sure that you can save your DivX file to a data DVD, like Conor mentioned. But as far as creating a regular video DVD, i'm not sure. Of course it can be done somehow, but you made need another conversion program once you've created your own DivX file.

That's basically why I ordered the Legend version, because they did a restoration on it.  I'll likely use the restored B&W version though, never been a big fan of colorization.

Me either, though Legend's work really is stellar.  With minor films such as this, it bothers me even less.  As long as they don't go around colourizing Casablanca or The Maltese Falcon, I'm cool with it.   :)

Why did they color the smoke in Reefer Madness?   Thought that was a little odd.

If I remember correctly, Nerovision (and probably other DVD authoring/burning applications) will do the conversion to DVD-Video for you automagically.  You just do "Add Video Files..." from the project menu, and browse to the DivX file(s) you want to add.

I have two DVD players from Phillips that will play DIVX files. Depending on the quality of the compression they look pretty good. All you have to do is burn the dvd-r as a DATA disc and when you put it in the player all the file names show up on the screen. Select which one you want and hit enter and you are good to go!

Yeah, I have a DVP-642 that does DivX.  It's cheap, and it does the job, though it's overall kind of a crappy DVD player.  It has since been supplanted by the DVP5140, though I haven't used that one, so I can't comment on its quality.

But for those who don't want to spend 50 bucks on another DVD player, your DVD authoring software will probably do the job.

Representing for the stone knives and bear skins faction, I dug out my 1990 VHS copy of Missile to the Moon, released by Rhino as part of Elvira's Midnight Madness series.  This isn't one with Elvira interjecting herself during the movie; she only introduces it and comments after the flick, so the movie is complete and uncut.  I watched it earlier today and I gotta say, I was not thinking "ooooh, this would be so cool if it was colorized."  So I can save a few bucks this time around and wait until Legend re-releases it with the Rifftrax added to the DVD.

A Mighty Wind

Funny Letterman Joke

They have no Willard best in show clips. That sucks.

gammer

A couple of my favorite Fred Willard clips from Anchorman...

BTW, how was that for quality and ease of use?

With the settings I used, the entire Anchorman movie would be approx 400MB.

Okay Gammer. Okay. You win. WMV is awesome.  ;)

hahaha....wut-ev-uh

I'm just kidding around. Everyone one has their own way of doing things, and I am not one to say people need to conform to one video file type. Whether it be wmv,avi,mpg,mp4,mkv, or even flv, it's all good. No hard feelings, Gam, it was only a joke.
