A movie can time trip all over the place and can still be very predictable.

Starship Troopers: Boobies make any lame Sci-fi movie kick ass
Every day of my life I find the wisest and best to fix our attention on the Good and the Beautiful. If you just take the time to look at it.

Screenwriters can still make hot women have sex with disturbing stalkers...regardless of what would really happen. (restraining orders, mace in the face, or even just the 'cold shoulder)

I learned that you can get away with sleeping with someone you've known for less than 24 hours and, apperantly, not get pegged as a slut. You can also apperantly have a deep, meaningful relationship with this person in that same span of time. This explains why almost every actress/actor  in Hollywood has been married and divorced 20+ times.

I learned that even when you have a gift to see into the future, you don't bother retelling jokes to get the punchline right after you screwed it up on your first attempt.*

I learned that stage-naming yourself after your two favorite things, Frankenstein and Cadillacs [uh, what??], is considered to be "charming" by some people.

*Seriously, after he got the punchline wrong, I was expecting a sequence where he went back and retold it. Did they just cut that part?

Yeah, these are the possibilities:
(1) It was in the screenplay wrong and nobody noticed
(2) Nobody working on the film noticed that Nick told the joke wrong (or they noticed too late)
(3) As you said, they forgot to include Nick "going back" and retelling it correctly

Either way, it's a pretty big screw-up. Not a "Hawk/Hawks"-level screw-up, but still embarrassing.

What I didn't learn was what the French terrorists were trying to achieve!
