I've noticed that one of the most common questions new-type people ask is "What's the best Rifftrax to start with?"

SO I decided to open up a thread in the new-type people board to discuss the issue.

Everyone pretend for a moment you've gone back in time and met yourself back when you hadn't synched a trax in your life and you had an MP3 player with every movie Rifftraxed so far on it.. What would you tell yourself to watch first?

The Fifth Element.  That was the first really, really funny one.

Yeah, but NOBODY takes the time to read this post first! They'll just lead out with the "greetings, I'm new" line, then they'd ask what should be watched first, yadda yadda.

That being said, I'd say to start at the very beginning, like I did already. Road House should be the first!

I'd recommend that newbies avoid this one in the beginning...  its a great trax, but disembaudio comes on WAY too strong... may as well start with the heavy hitters... ID4, Daredevil, and Battlefield Earth

also, 300 was my least favorite (its like 50% fart jokes  ::) )

What's wrong with Disembaudio?  I like it when he pipes up.  My favorite is part in Heroes when he explains how he is the real star of Rifftrax, having hired Mike to "burnish his image."

See I would sort of suggest watching them in release order, there are the occasional call backs to previous films and trax.

Not arguing hard for it, just mentioning.

Disembaudio's an aquired taste. When fifth element came out, I was among those who didn't want to hear from him as much. Now I watch every track just hoping he'll pipe up at some point. So yeah, fifth element's a great 'trax once you're used to Disembaudio.  :^)

I think for a number of people, it was "too much, too soon". People were perhaps still getting used to new voices(people) joining mike in his traditional role.

If you're any kind of Trekkie/Trekker, or conversely a Star Trek hater, start with Star Trek V.  I did, and it's probably still my favorite.

Also, I would suggest getting several Rifftrax under your belt before daring to take on The Wicker Man.  Really good riff ... for an unbelievably awful movie.  This is the one that gets old MST3K fans hearkening back to Manos and Hobgoblins.  Yes, that bad, so build up some experience, and resistance, first.
