Doctor Who?

What if I am I am telling you why i don't like it.  What else can I say?  If you think it is a good movie more power too you,I don't.  Also i just don't think Brosman does as good a job with the over the top stuff as Moore.  Also you want an over the top movie shooting poison into the sky from a space station is a lot less over the top and sci-fi then brain swapping, lasers chasing a super car on ice, hang gliding out of the way of a melting ice burg,Bond having the power to stop his own hart at will and then be fine,a plane flying through a giant laser and not blowing up,and a car with cloak.  Sorry I just think DAD crosses the line a lot farther then any other film and it has a very uneven tone.

"Die Another Day" for sure.

I prefer the move in the original German title "The Another Day"

The only one I can think of that I don't really like is the one where Connery came back and remade Thunderball, so Never Say Never Again is my choice. It's just not a good Bond. In fact, according to the list here it doesn't even count as one. So oh well.

I tend to like all the other ones, from the actual 'good' ones to the cheesy, b-movie ones. In fact the cheesy ones (especially all the Moore ones) are my favorites; they're just so enjoyable to watch. Shoot, I've got an original Octopussy poster up in my room. And in that vein of thinking I kinda like Die Another Day; it's basically a modern take on those cheesy ones of the 70s (maybe not intentionally, but that's what it is).

i get the dislike of DAD but Brosnan is my bond so i can't bring myself to hate it.  Octopussy is my least favorite.  just bad old man moore and the villain is dull as dirt.  i prefer view to a kill cause it has walken playing a memorable villain and its in SF.

plus the clown thing in octopussy.  ugh.

I think my least favorite to watch is still From Russia With Love.  It's so fucking dull.

For shame! >:(

Allow me to plug my Best Bond Movie Poll.

What about the Turkish gypsies? (I do have a soft spot for invisible car silliness, though.)

Oh yeah, the girl fight. :) That was good.

I liked the book just fine, I should say.  All the stuff that's good in the book doesn't come across in the movie.

I find the train stuff in FRWL to be some of the only genuinely tense scenes in any Bond movie, but I could see how they could drag on.

I like to imagine Roger Thornhill and and Eve Kendall are going at in the next room the whole time. (I know, wrong continent, whatever.)

Well, I'm pretty sure we can agree Alfred Hitchcock > Terence Young.

I love all the Bond movies.  I grew up on Roger Moore (the first one I ever saw was OctoPUSSY, emphasis based on poll phrasing), and as a kid, I just didn't see it as cheesy.  I just loved how Bond got those knife thrower dicks in the end.

But of the ones I like the absolute LEAST, it has to be Tomorrow Never Dies.  This has nothing to do with acting, gadgetry, or any of that stuff.  I thought the plot behind the whole affair was the absolute stupidest of all the big, bad guy plots.

Moonraker?  Destroy everyone on Earth to start a super race of people.  Over the top, yes, but very ambitious.  A for effort, D for plausibility of pull-off...and maybe a C for stealing 90% of the plot from Spy Who Loved Me.  Still like it.

Die Another Day?  Pretend to be a British guy in order to invade South Korea.  Silly in its entirety, but hey, his henchman had diamonds stuck in his face.

But Tomorrow Never Dies?  Blow up ships and start wars to get ratings.  RATINGS!  Maybe, compared to building a death ray laser, it's certainly more plausible (you know, other than hiring a group of terrorists to work for your newspaper and nobody ever gets suspicious), but good Lord, they got Jonathan Pryce to play their villain and they make him Rupert Murdoch in charge of the Al-Qaeda Inquirer?  And his henchman is just a dude!  A tough dude, but even Robert Shaw gets plenty of screen time to show just how badass he was.  This guy wanders around and kicks Michelle Yeoh a couple of times, which doesn't exactly endear him as one of the many "Henchman of Legend."  Hell, from what I just read, they took the one thing that made him interesting out of the script and gave it to Robert Carlyle in the next one (the feeling no pain thingie), and look what just a simple thing can do to a character!

It's the one movie in the entire series that I just felt disappointed by.  I don't LOVE Die Another Day, but I don't hate it, either.

Actually, not quite true about disappointment, I'm also not a big fan of Daniel Craig's run.  He ACTS Bond well, and the stories do have a continuity that none of the others were able to match, but I think what he captures in the BOOK Bond is what I miss from MOVIE Bond...that is, the wink and nod charm that all started with Connery.  I was just watching the Nostalgia Critic about the two Nutty Professor movies, and he mentions that while both Buddy Loves are funny to a degree, Jerry Lewis' version was kind of an jerk...the kind of jerk who THINKS he's charming, but isn't fooling anybody, while Murphy's is still a jerk, but at least he's personable.

And that's what I miss...the charm.  Connery played Bond as more of a loveable rogue, and even with the many personnel changes of the pre-Reboot, they all to some degree kept that same level of charm. Yes, even Dalton in his most serious moments.  Craig plays Bond as a complete asshole, yet women still flock to him.

As I kid, I loved Bond because he was doing the kind of stuff I wanted to be doing as a grown-up; jet-setting to exotic locales, chasing bad guys, blowing up the evil base, and getting the girl in the end.

At best, Daniel Craig gets beat in the crotch, plays cards, and forces a creepy French guy to drink oil.  What's the fun in that?

I agree completely. The new Bonds are good (Well, aspects of them...), but it doesn't feel like Bond to me. Daniel Craig is just such an unlikable sourpuss. I guess that's more true to the novels, but it's not what made the franchise successful for so long.

I haven't actually seen all the Bond films - I gave a miss to the last couple of Moore ones and skipped a few of the Brosnan ones, so although I daresay that I can label any movie that has Denise Richards as a scientist as terrible without even seeing it, I'll break the rules and mention a few I like.

My fave is probably For Your Eyes Only.  Hot chick, Moore acting tough, and a gunfight that, for a Bond movie, didn't seem silly.

I have a manly-man-thing for Dalton and I really liked his Bond, but I think he got stuck with some krazappy scripts.

Brosnan?  Meh. Not his fault they cranked up the formula machine for him.

The Connery ones are fun.  Don't really dislike any of them, although they didn't really age well.

The reboot?  I like Casino, think Quantum is really dull but I can see that if they do a third one it'll be a nice "origins issue" of Bond.  I bet in the next movie he even smiles during a mission.

Mainly what I take away from Bond films is that most of them made in the 80s or 90s are really bad movies period, let alone good or bad Bond movies.

I do understand what you're saying, despite my disagreeing with you. But I think that was the point of the end of Quantum of Solace - with M being surprised Bond didn't kill the guy who manipulated Vesper, it showed Bond was slowly thawing out. I mean, you wouldn't exactly be pretty chipper after the woman you loved was manipulated into betraying you, then killed herself in front of your eyes. I do think one reason they've been hesitant to bring Q and the gadgets back (which I am still waiting for - and apparently so is Daniel Craig) is everyone's gonna compare it to Desmond Llewelyn - who is someone nobody can live up to. I like what they've done with the reboot so far, and I do hope they have Bond bringing on some slightly more charm in the next movie.

And also, just to get an unnecessary jab in - Charlie Sheen's an asshole and some women still flock to him.

Also, again - Die Another Day sucks balls.

The one thing I like the most about Craig is that he seems to be personally interested in the stories and overall feel of the movies, and makes his opinions known. (Whether the producers appreciate this, I dunno.) I don't believe any of the other actors ever had any interst in the storytelling before they showed up on set to film.
