Yeah, I think Star Wars will be great, even if the only available version is the (tragically) CGI-mangled new editions. They'll probably rip on the ridiculous changes more than the original material.

The original versions were released on DVD last year, in two packs with their special edition counterparts. Episode IV is so pre-SEs that it doesnt even say Episode IV. That's 1977 original release.

From what I heard, that was a limited release and is back out of print.

I was in meetings all day at work and could not sneak out to see the 20 questions progressing.

Nice choice.   Really good movie, and I can see how you can riff on it too.

And another one I already own!

I am getting a head start on this one. Going ahead and ripping the DVD now so it will be nice and ready on 10/2.

he's looking at YOU, Ronin!

... Why does Anakin look so pissed off?

To me, it looks more like a pervy "pedosmile" than a scowl.

Aaargh, that be lust in his eye.

Wait, talk like a pirate day was last week. Crap.

Wait, Raiders of the Lost Ark?

That is probably the last film I expected to see on Rifftrax.

It's not the quality, it's the hilarity factor. This should rock! do I see parts 2 and 3 in zee future too?

I would think that "Citizen Kane" or "This Island Earth" would be some of the last ones to see :)

GregMcduck

No, I'd love to see such an over-rated, over-inflated balloon of a movie liked Citizan Kane to get a Riff.

But how do you riff on the shooting-the-guy-with-the-sword scene or the it-is-really-just-a-coat-hanger scene?

This Island Earth. Wouldn't that be sweet. They could show those ungrateful bastards at Universal who hate MST3K:TM what for.

Ha!  Corbett makes an awesome Toht.
Not having seen the movie in years, and not remembering who Toht was, I saw that picture and was wondering why Cheney was in the movie.

I'd hate to break the news, but if Mike & Co. riff the Original Star Wars, i guarantee that they wont riff the "real" versions, and they'll most likely riff the SE editions, as those are probably the most prevalent(and probably more riff-worthy)

Yes, I see that happening too. Besides, the SE versions tie into the prequel trilogy they just finished riffing. The callbacks to the prequels that Lucas put in would better coincide with the callback riffs to those movies. Besides, it seems more appropriate to riff those since they are the versions that Lucas wants everybody to watch. The real question is if / when Chad Vader will be coming back.  :)
