Drift Issues

Sorry to resurrect this one, but I encountered drift problems as well.

My first reauthor was ROAD HOUSE, and after checking that the first two sync points lined up, everything was fine.

Well I repeated the same process with STAR TREK V.  First few sync lines were perfect so I made my disc.  Towards the end of the film the rifftrax wound up a second or two before the movie's audio.  Mike and Kevin would make their joke before the actor on screen had finished his line.

I went back and added in a second of silence here and there to make everything perfect again.

I had this problem with the PAL version of the Riff. I just went through and snipped out audio from the riff trax (as it was consistently 1 - 2 seconds behind, although obviously this would be getting longer each time if I hadn't been snipping as I went) to resync it. A bit of a nusiance on the whole, but not the end of the universe.

Any idea why it would be like this though ?

The first ones, including Road House and the 5th Element, weren't quite as precise as the newer ones, they got better at it. ;)

I think the general guide with the early ones was to increase the tempo by 0.1% in audacity, not perfect but a bit better

5th Element just plain has a mistake. If I remember correctly there were two sync lines that were correct but the riffs in between were off. I had to add blank space before a certain riff and then remove some blank space before the next sync line.

And that was when we didn't get sync lines! [old man voice] We had to find DisembAudio lines the hard way! Not like today with you kids and your readme files and your timecodes and your Audacitys! [/old man voice]

It is right where Oldman's character is setting the bomb at the hotel. The riffs were off by just a second or so.

Yeah, I had seeeeeeeerious drift issues with STV and TFE.

Zooball

I had issues where the wrong chapter would play for ST V via the RT Player on my PC.  Very weird.  Some minor drifting here and there, but a new chapter would usually snap everything back into place.  I had to start chapters over to get it all synched again.
You can normally find me over at OurDarkSkies.com, but only if you like telescopes. :D

I'm redo-ing this one for widescreen, and noticed the same thing. I added 0.24 seconds of silence at 56:05 and 0.29 seconds at 1:16:35 to the riff audio track and that seemed to do the trick.

Oh, and yes, Fifth Element does also go off at some point late in the movie. Silence needs to be added to the riff somewhere, but I haven't redone it yet so I don't know where.

Again, thanks Eegah for the tip. Those added times worked perfectly.  :)

MrTorso

Thanks eegah for the codes. Just did a re-author for HD and the times worked great!

Thanks eegah! I'm doing an HD re-author too. My third time authoring this movie, but the first time it's been in sync throughout! Excellent!
