It was a great film with lots of surprises and i was not bored for an instant. Must-see.

I was... kinda disappointed.  It didn't feel like an Indiana Jones movie for me.  Like, was there a single line of dialogue in the movie that wasn't exposition?  And the music... while in the previous Indy movies, each musical piece had its own theme and sense of structure, all the music in this film feels like a Looney Tunes cartoon... just reacting to the action onscreen.  And there's just so much that felt out of place in this movie.  John Hurt's character, for one thing.  He seemed more like a character from Pirates Of The Caribbean or something.  And despite Spielberg's claims, there was way too much CGI in the film.  I personally think they shouldn't have used it at all, and instead gone back to models and puppets and good, old-fashioned stuntmen risking life and limb to get the shots they needed.

Doctor Who?

Sounds like this movie has everything I hate about modern action movies in it.

I think I will save my $6 and wait to rent it on Netflix.

I went to see Iron Man yesterday and the trailer didn't impress.

I think the nostalgia of the first movie forgives a lot of the foibles of the newest one for most people.

SPOILERS BELOW!

Where do I begin? Well, I must say that the movie was an adventure. I felt completely alone and unable to defend myself against the movie's campiness. The movie foreshadowed. I sat there thinking to myself in the first few scenes, "I don't remember Indiana Jones being this much of a smartass". The movie gave us peeks into the film's great potential to crap all over itself. The Arc of the Covenant, the refridgerator, the magnetic chase through the building...all made me think to myself, "Well, that's kind of stupid, but in Star Trek-esque fashion, I'll gladly ignore it because I know that they're just setting up for another great Indiana Jones adventure!". I had this kind of baseless optimism until the "climax", if you're following my plotline / crappiness metaphor. The one single moment in the movie where I gave up all hope and just had to laugh at it and its slow death. That was when Mutt was thrown out of the car and into the trees (yes, I even made it through the rapier fight and the nutshot gag without fully doubting the movie). Mutt looked over and made eye contact with a monkey. I said, out loud, to myself, "No, movie. Don't do it! Don't do it!" but it did ... Mutt called upon the woodland creatures to help Indiana Jones...*sigh* To make matters worse, he starts swinging through the jungle like Tarzan and I almost shed a tear for the great name that was being soiled. The movie went on to surprise me with its stupidity and how stupid it apparently thought we all were. We like not being as smart as Indiana Jones. We like him solving puzzles we could never even dream of figuring out ourselves. We like him being this romanticized, academic adventurer! When there is a connection to be made in the movie and the audience sees it before Indiana Jones, no problem. Don't draw a lot of attention to it. No such luck. Thinking back to the scene in the temple where Indy is comparing the shape of the crystal skull to the shape of the head in the painting, the scene dragged on for what seemed an eternity. It could have been done in a quick camera sweep. We all know, unless we just walked in, the shape of the skull and we all made the connection. Thank you! Overall, the movie was fun, at times, but I think the most fun I had during the movie was thinking about how great a RiffTrax it's going to make.

You know what I was thinking?  That they should make an Indiana Jones movie that sort of bridges the gap between the Young Indiana Jones chronicles and Temple of Doom, featuring Sean Patrick Flannery as Indy.  It would feature the first appearances of Marcus, Abner and Marion Ravenwood, Sallah, and Belloq.  I think it could work, I mean, Sean Patrick Flannery is approximately the same age as Harrison Ford was in Raiders now, and I think he actually looks more like Harrison Ford now than he did when he was in the show.  It could work.

I'm all for more Indy movies, but the big stumbling block would be who would play him.  I don't think Sean Patrick Flannery would be good enough.

Attention major spoilage ahead.

Alright, let me first say that I had high expectations for this film.  I love the Indiana Jones movies and even enjoy Temple of Doom.  However,  The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull left me confused and let down.  This movie centered around a plot very distant from Indiana Jones is known for and it has many laughable moments of actions

We all know Indy does some pretty remarkable and improbable stuff but this film takes the cake.  The whole plot behind the film is completely different than any other Indy film.

Now let's talk about the laughably impossible actions which degrade the whole movie.

Now I know this all sounds harsh but I do have the a few good things to say.  It was awesome to see Indy again of course.  Marion too.  I thought John Hurt did a great job as the "translator"  and Kate Blanchett was alright in the wacko part she had.  I very much enjoyed all the throw backs to the old films.  I'm glad they mentioned Henry Sr. and Marcus.  Some of the dialogue and banter was very Indy-esque and amusing.  The chase scenes were typical chase scenes and I found them enjoyable.

Overall I guess I'd rather preferred that they had picked a better plot for this film, perhaps they could have found another biblical artifact to find.  To mean that is what Indiana Jones is.  He's an archaeologist with skills.  This film to me was a combination of National Treasure, with the Indiana Jones characters along for the ride.

In my opinion this is the most out of place film in the series and my least favorite.  But I do know that this is going to make a great Rifftrax.

What I didn't get about the ending, and perhaps I missed something, was:

Why would they have throwbacks to the other films, yet not point out that Indy can't die. And Henry Sr isn't supposed to be able to die.

I loved the film BTW

Weren't they only immortal as long as they stayed in the cave? Once they went out, I assume they became mortal again.
