I've decided to try and avoid the Indy version 2 trailer.  As a projectionist, it might be kinda hard, but I wouldn't mind going into the movie without any kind of knowledge of the plot.

QuoteGeorge Lucas has revealed to FoxNews that there is more than a strong possibility that there will be a fifth "Indiana Jones" movie. Apparently, Steven Spielberg has left the door open for a sequel to "Indiana Jones 4."

"I haven't even told Steven or Harrison [Ford] this," he said. "But I have an idea to make Shia [LaBeouf] the lead character next time and have Harrison come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out."

"And it's not like Harrison is even old. I mean, he's 65 and he did everything in this movie," Lucas continued. "The old chemistry is there, and it's not like he's an old man. He's incredibly agile; he looks even better than he did 20 years ago, if you ask me."

maybe LaBeouf really is Indy's son

We have the new action figures at work.  Why is it that Hasbro can make head/face sculpts of non-speaking extras that resemble the person fairly closely, but they can't make a sculpt of Indy that looks even like the vague-est idea of Harrison Ford?  Or any of the other major characters, for that matter?  It's like the sculptors watched the scenes with the extras closely, making sure they remembered every single detail of their faces perfectly, but any time Harrison Ford, Karen Allen, John Rhys-Davies, or Paul Freeman was onscreen, they turned their heads away from the screen, and instead made the sculpts based on the descriptions of what someone who knew someone who had seen those actors pictures before seemed to think they looked like.

Thought I'd post my review here too:

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls: How should one feel about a film when you come away relieved yet disappointed at the same time? Thankfully, it's not the travesty I dreaded (hello Phantom Menace!) but it's not exactly great either.  There were many problems I had with the movie.  Firstly: there's too many supporting characters, this is an Indiana Jones movie, not Indiana Jones and his Posse and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull!  Ray Winstone could be lifted from the entire movie and not make one jot of difference to the plot.  Other characters fail impress either: Karen Allen is less than convincing to begin with, though gradually grows throughout the movie, while people who don't like Shia LeBeouf aren't going to be converted here either.  Some of the comedy is unexpectedly clunky too and I wasn't really a fan of the "MacGuffin" either, being almost completely different from the OT.  However... It's Indiana Jones! Harrison Ford doesn't look out of place in his outfit, or giving and taking punches, and some of the set-pieces (though a little samey) are superb.  Cate Blanchett provides is a decent antagonist and even with a weird bob-haircut is obscenely gorgeous.  In the end, I think we have a film that though a little tired, gets the job done in the end.  A bit like Indiana Jones, I suppose.

Oh, and if anyone wants to know if Shia LeBeouf's character is Indiana Jones' son, here it is:

Just got back from the midnight showing. I loved it. Not as good as Last Crusade, but a hell of a lot better than Temple of Doom. Most fun I've had at a movie theater since Hot Fuzz. I never once caught myself checking my watch.

And I loved the Yale motorcycle chase sequence, seeing locations within a mile of my house on screen. Nice sense of local pride.

I loved it, it was a whole lot of fun, and it was exactly what I expected and wanted to see (fights, chases, plummets, caves covered in cobwebs, poison darts...).  Actually, I do have two complaints:  1) Indy doesn't have a whole lot to do once they reach the temple, and 2) he never gets to ride a horse.  Just...when he rides horses, usually really exciting things happen.

I enjoyed it immensely, though.

I liked it.  I thought the concept was a bit unneeded.  Without giving too much away, Indy normally deals with supernatural things but come on.  Next thing you know he'll be jumping on couches.

But, it was everything an Indy movie should be.  Corny jokes, action, Harrison Ford looked great considering and Shia didn't ruin it completely.   I'm not sure how it will hold up to repeat viewings, but I don't think many movies can really hold up to repeat viewings.  DVD has probably ruined our ability to appreciate movies. :)

Yes, but the most important question to those of you who have seen the movie is howe many times Shia said "No!" during the duration of the movie's running time.

Nice to see others who loved it. One read of the IMDB forums and you'd think it's the worst abomination ever created by man, when of course we all know that that is Episode 1.

I thought it was pretty good. I'm not nearly the Indiana Jones fan Pak is, but I still found myself enjoying it (despite having to go to the bathroom for 90% of the film and couldn't because I didn't want to interrupt the movie for the folks sitting beside me). The ending was.....weird.  With no spoiler help from the Internet or any other sources, I

Don't remember any. I thought Shia did a really good job; I was sort of expecting to hate him. Didn't, at all.

Did anyone else find themselves incredibly sad during the first 30-40 minutes?  It felt very  much like a different thing, and there was a lot of talk of aging and dying and stuff.  It was also extremely jarring to me to see the Gov't types accusing Indy of being a commie and worthless, etc.

I wish they hadn't done the nuclear bomb thing.  I know it's the late '50s now, but...I dunno. It was weird seeing Indy in the '50s.

I just got home from seeing this movie and I have to say the nuclear test scene made me scratch my head. I don't think just a shower would be able to wash out the radiation considering just how close Indy was to that blast. All in all I have to say that I'm confused as to whether or not I like this movie. When it stuck to more down to Earth (Hah hah!) elements of realism it had my attention. But when it headed into X-Files territory I was taken out of the story completely. I prefer when Indy faces the Supernatural, not the Sci Fi.

In conclusion Ironman is still the Summer movie I've been overwhelmingly pleased with.

Hey! I saw the movie last night and loved it! I miss Indy looking for

It just /felt/ like an Indy movie to me - which made me very happy! Can it compare to Last Crusade? Well... The fact that there's no Connery dooms it to be worse no matter what. I look at Indy movies now as fitting into two categories: 1.) Indy in the Holy Land, and 2.) Indy NOT in the Holy Land. And I think KotCS is /way/ better than Temple of Doom.

I'm actually hoping they make another one... Seriously! Cuz there were still things to be missed:

All in all - I recommend anyone who likes the original movies to go see this one! Loads of fun! Here's for Indiana Jones 5: When Indy met Skywalker

P to the Jizzay...

I was actually pleasantly surprised to see the nuclear bomb since my grandpa has told me stories about how in the '50s they did above ground weapons testing at the Military Test site just north of Las Vegas.

And while just the one shower wouldn't have gotten the radiation off, people didn't start showing radiation sickness from the testing in Vegas until years later. Course...if he can survive being tossed around in that fridge...he can survive a little explosion.

Oh, and for the record...Shia was perfect for this role. I liked him a lot in this movie.
