Dear Mike,
Have you listened to any of the fan riffs out there that you have inspired? Such as The "riff of Khan" and others? And what do you think of them?

"Talk to me, Goose..."

"HONK! HONK HONK!"

Are they still answering questions asked here on the blog?   If not I'd lock the thread.  A lot of people are waiting for a podcast that probably isn't coming.

Darkxide

LIVE, THREAD.  LIIIIVE.

Anyways, let's see...

"Dear Mike,
Which new guests would you like to have join in to riff along with your group?"

Hey Mike, how about getting Jerry Seinfeld in on a riff?
And death shall have no dominion...

elmhurst_moop

hey mike will you guys be doing any new podcasts?  If so I guess that question could be answered in a new podcast.

Uh well, considering the fans have once written a script FOR Mike, and various references are made all the time on the forum and blogs from Rifftrax employees and the riffers themselves about writing for Rifftrax, including discussions about how they break up a movie for writing (Mike writes for this third of the movie, Bill writes for another portion of it etc) I think we can pretty much assume there's a script involved.

One of my old friends, upon finding out that MST was scripted, complained what a rip-off that was, and how disillusioned he felt about it.

He was also quite insane.   :speechless:

I don't see the big deal, as long as it's funny.  If I remember right the original format for MST3K involved mostly improv, but was changed largely because the comments were too thin and needed to be planned out better.

Yeah that's why they have 'Writers', and have since season 1 of MST3K

Why don't you keep an up-to-date printable list online of movies for which RiffTrax are available?  This would be an unspeakable help for making selections at the video store (and it would be reeeeeally easy for you to do).

Not a bad idea but given how many of the movies have special instructions on which version of a movie you need for the riff to work, even a simple printible list won't end up being very simple.

Hi Mike.  Another 1st-time blogger here.  I really enjoyed a lot of recent riffs.  Point Break is a personal favorite of mine.  That said, I'm still kinda old school.  Any chance we'll see some more riffs of bad B-movies (ala Mission to the Moon?)

Thanks for years of fun!

Here's something that I've been wondering about.  These guys, historically, have been so lovable for their good-natured comedy.  Now with RiffTrax... has anyone noticed them becoming harsher, more caustic, and more critical of things that don't really deserve it? I mean, honestly, Alien and Raiders of the Lost Ark?  Some movies really don't have it coming...

Or, to put it as a question to Mike despite the incredible unlikeliness of ever getting a response, do you at RiffTrax find yourselves Riffing for the sake of it, rather than because of any real distaste for the films? And if so... why?
