No injuries here.  I don't know about the other guy.  He hit hard enough that his airbags deployed.  I had a little soreness the day after.  I think it was just from some sharp, involuntary muscle clenching.  It was mostly in my abdominal muscles so that the day after it hurt a lot to sit up or lay down.  It was less sore the next day, and by last Tuesday I was back to normal.  I would say that it was a lot like the general muscle fatigue from after a day of yardwork and digging.

The car is officially totaled.  Now gotta get my settlement check and get another new car.  Hopefully this one lasts more than 2 months.

It really grinds my gears that I haven't posted here in 8 years.  I mean, what the hell?!  Who do I think I am, just leaving for all of that time without so much as sending a postcard?  The nerve!

Last night, I twisted my ankle again.  Third time in 6 months.  This time it was because I slipped on a patch of ice in the parking lot of a Wendy's.  It's not all swollen and bruised like last time.  Maybe the injury is a little different?  It could also be because I got my compression sock on more quickly.  Regardless, I can barely walk.

The last two times, I could barely move for about the first 36 hours after the incident.  Then for about a week after that, I was slow but basically getting around okay.  Following THAT is 3 weeks of dull throbbing where I can walk at full speed but not run.  After that is about 6 weeks of being at 100%  Then after that, I fall again and the cycle begins again.

That sucks. Hope you feel better soon. A number of years ago I stepped in a hole one of the dogs dug while doing yard work and twisted the hell out of ankle to the point it turned purple and swole to three times it's normal size. Might have torn something and should have gone to doctor, but was on a Saturday before the start of a weeks vacation and used it as an excuse to get out of some activities the wife had planned with a young nephew who was staying with us at the time. Hurt like hell and I could barely walk, but spent a week on the couch with ice and keeping it elevated and was able to return to work the next week. Took about another month to fully heal.

Sounds like my experience.

This sprain is actually healing faster than the last two.  I can walk around at normal speed without shoes.  There's no bruising or swelling.  The pain is more around the Achilles tendon than the top of the foot like last time.

It's still hard to get up from the floor, and stairs are tough.

WOW! Our only local FedEx shipping center wouldn't let me ship a package because the Amazon envelope I packed it in was made of paper so 'FedEx Karen' as I'll call her, wanted me to package it into one of THEIR padded envelops... that was also made of paper!
I'm shipping a package all the way to California and the cheapest option was FedEx so I'm still in my postal uniform and I'm trying to get clarification from FedEx Karen as to what the difference was between their padded paper envelope verses my padded paper envelope and all she kept saying was "We can't ship your package in a paper envelope!" But yours is padded and made of paper soo... What's the difference?! And FedEx Karen says "I'm not going round and round with you on this!"  ::)
So I took my package and dropped it off at a FedEx drop off at Walgreens instead. They had no problem accepting it in an Amazon paper envelope. Problem is it won't ship out till Monday where it would have shipped out today if she would have just taken the damn thing so now it's going to add 2 extra days in unnecessary shipping time :grr:

Forecast for last weekend called for 3 inches of snow. Weekend before last the 3 inches of snow forecast ended up being 18. Ended up with no snow but very heavy rain. Didn't go down to basement on Saturday but needed something from freezer on Sunday and found an inch of water. Sump pump and old dehumidifier both failed. So spent Sunday afternoon installing new pump which quickly got rid of a lot of the water and bought 2 new dehumidifiers. Annual bonus I get next month spent.

ihavemyreasons

Filed a claim with our home owners insurance for sump pump failure. Insurance didn't cover sump pump or dehumidifiers, but adjuster showed up and based on all the crap we've accumulated in the basement over 25+ that was damaged, we got a check for 5K. Most of it is crap we needed to throw away anyway.  Gonna have a dumpster brought in soon and throw a bunch of stuff away. Dumpsters not cheap, but overall we should end up ahead.

Insurance companies..
You need them to cover an unaffordable repair/replacement, yet they have their little loopholes to weasel out of paying for something they don't want to >:(

Weaseling out of things is what separates us from the animals.  Except the weasel.

I tend to not update my programs with exception to Windows. This is especially true with any freeware. I will not update unless the program stops working. At the least, I could end up with a new version of the program I would need to relearn. At worst, some of the old features I like could be removed. The biggest threat, that freeware that was once free, could suddenly be a subscription program. It happens all the time. Some programmer coded the app intending it to be free and available to everyone. Some company buys it, and suddenly they want $70 a year to use it. You already have it on your computer, right? Well, you go for an update, and the update process erases your free version, then demands money for the deluxe version, the free version no longer available. I have stuff I paid for like PC games, word processing programs and a very old version of Nero. I will not update them whenever I am prompted to because I do not want to risk that the company that sold them want the old versions erased, and for you to pay for the newest version. People may think I am being a bit paranoid, but I have been burned a lot by updates. If I kept a program, it is because I like it. I don't need it fixed, it is running the way I want it to.

Something tat cant be fixed, is idiots who insist I am being dumb for not updating and think they are being in my best interest by clicking the update button because I don't know what I am doing and they do. I had this program for a few years from Viddly which allows you to download videos from Youtube. I uploaded it to replace the previous Youtube downloading program which, after an update, began adding watermarks onto the videos unless you paid for their subscription version. And that one replaced two different websites that downloaded the video you cut and pasted a Youtube URL onto and they would download it, both of which started asking for money. Viddly was perhaps the best Youtube downloader I ever had. Automatically selects the best quality version of the video. About my only complaint was that it can't download any video Youtube wants you to sign in to watch, like adult content videos. ( So no downloading the video for WAP )Each time I would run the Viddly I would be prompted to either upgrade, or to try a no advertising version. And each time I would click the "Remind Me Later" option. I only updated this program, reluctantly, a couple of years ago when Yotube changed something on their website that interfered with downloading videos. That is until idiot moron who is a friend of a family member decided not only to use my PC without asking, or to run the Viddly without asking, but then to update it, which I found him doing when I entered my study. "Oh no. You want the new version. It has faster download time."

Want to know what the update on Viddly gets you? Same program as before. But after you download your third video, it tells you that  you reached your limit for the day for the free version of Viddly. Mind you, the Viddly is a program running on your PC. It is not on their website using up their bandwidth or their servers or their electricity or whatever. That is usually why some sites give you limits for the free version, because it is costing them money for you to run it. This three video a day limit is nothing more than a way to get you to pay for their subscription version, which runs no better than the free version I had up until moron king decided to replace it without asking.

So. If you have Viddly, and have not updated it yet. DONT!You will get stuck with a version that limits you to only three videos per day, unless you pay them $72 a month for the pay version.

Another PC update nightmare!

If you refuse to update Windows, then it dies it for you without your permission.  Usually six hours into your 8 hour virus scan. Had you been watching your PC screen, and why would you because the only reason the PC was on was because there was an 8 hour virus scan running, you would have seen a pop-up warning that in 25 seconds the PC would be shutting down to reboot and update unless you click the icon saying to do the update on another date. So you check the progress of the scan, only to find it had been shut off and the PC rebooted. And you need to restart the 8 hour scan from the beginning. I am sure Windows senses that it has been left on for a few hours without ant keyboard activity then deliberately updates.

But that isn't what I am complaining about. What I am pissed off of right now is the video editor. A decade ago Windows had a program called Movie Maker. A wonderful program that allowed you to edit video clips together and make a Windows Video. But with Windows 10 and up, Movie Maker was replaced with Windows Picture, that program that takes a minute to boot up when all you wanted to do is look at a picture file, when the previous picture program took three seconds. Anyway, the Windows Picture program had as an extra a built in video editor. Right where you never expected it to be. It sucked. It could not do a lot of the stuff Windows Movie Maker could, like cross fading between clips. But it was the only way to edit your clips into a video without paying a lot of money for a video editing program that is so overly complicated that you need to watch a YouTube tutorial just to do something simple. So for the past decade the video editor on my Windows Pictures program was how I edited holiday videos before they were burned to the DVD. That is until this week where I found out Windows removed the video editor in their update of Windoes Picture.  When you go to the Windows site, you are told to use their newest stand alone video editing program. Only, every function on the editor is disabled.  If you want to edit a clip, or splice two clips together, then you need to update to the professional version of the video editor, which is $7.49 per month. All the free version of the editor does is copy the video unedited into a WMV file. Or I could save a step and put the video into one of a hundred free file converter programs? So basically Windows removed a program I owned, and paid for as it was part of the Windows 10/11 package I bought, and are telling me I now need to pat them a subscription for a replacement program.

And as long as I am here, I am sick of that bank commercial with the two grandmothers. One gets the grandson all the knights in some generic toy line. The other decides to oneup her by renting a bouncy castle for the birthday party. Annoying, but that is not what I find aggravating.  At the party the kid is wearing a knight costume and Grandma #2 says "Now you are a real knight." Then hands him a f$%king sword and sends him into the bouncy castle! Even if the damn thing is not a real sword, it is sure as hell sharp enough to puncture a bouncy castle! They don't even allow you to wear sneakers in a bouncy castle out of fear the shoes would puncture the floor. So an entire stick with a pointy end? Not to mention he will be jumping up and down with a sword next to his jumping friends.  That's not dangerous? That's a countdown to someone losing an eye! That commercial has been airing for four or five months, and no one notices how dangerous this is?

I do DoorDash for some extra money to help pay down debt. Last night I had to do a stack order which is when a customer orders from two different stores at the same time.

First, I had to go to Dollar General to pick up some things.  Then I had to drive 10 miles to Golden corral and 10 miles back to get some stuff there.  When I returned, I handed the order to the customer. He then reported it never delivered. Which is totally fraudulent.

So I don't know I might get kicked off the platform which wouldn't be the worst thing but it's gonna be tough not having that extra thousand a month
