just to make sure, there iare  two different versions, Special edition, and barebones......i hope there isnt a diference in the running times.

So, did anyone find out which version was used when they made the rifftrax for this?

David

According to Amazon, the one disc (and blu-ray and hd dvd) editions are 116 minutes and the special edition is 117 minutes. Hmm.

Noooooo! I was gonna buy the HD DVD... Of course there've been other times when differences of a minute between versions turned out to be erroneous...

The HD-DVD is a dual disc, so it will have the SD version on it too.  I doubt there's a difference between any of the versions anyway, I think the 116 vs 117 minutes is probably just an error.

I owe Butler an old grudge for getting cast in the Phantom movie. (I still have my old "Michael Crawford for Phantom" T-shirt around here, I think.) He's officially invisible to me too!  :)

By the way, as Dave Barry would say, Poorly Concealed Homoerotic Eye Candy would be an excellent name for a rock band.

As far as "Past the Point of No Return" is concerned -- Butler is WAY better than Crawford.

BLASPHEMY!  Where's my cross and holy water?? That little punk wasn't fit to tie Crawford's mask!

Also - Rossum is a fantastic Christine.... better than Brightman should Brightman perform it in her current state.

Well, in her current state, Brightman's simply no longer young enough to play an ingenue. (The Phantom, on the other hand, is more of an ageless role, so anyone who trots out the "too old" excuse for Crawford gets a DOUBLE DOSE of holy water!)  And it's true that her career path since "Phantom" has been a rather wacky one. I still love her voice, though, and think that it has the unique sound to it that Christine's voice should have.

As for the videos, a poorly done "Music of the Night" music video (I own it, but I freely admit that it looks hastily thrown together and neither performer was at his or her best -- poor Sarah, though I don't think she was actually ever a druggie, looked stoned out of her gourd) is not the way to make your case, my friend!

Excellent info, NickE. Also, I would expect Wal-Mart's price to be somewhere between the CC and BB prices (depends on your location, though).

300! Then we will riff in the shade! As much as I loved this movie, I think the odd visuals are gonna make good riff-fodder. I think I will use this new idea called 'stores' and 'purchase' this DVD, thus I avoid waiting. :^)

I'm with you, I thought it was a fun ride but VERY ripe for riffing.  Like David Lynch's Dune-riffable.

Still, watching angry Scottsmen is always a 'gud tiiime'.

SecretAgentSuperDragon

Go Target. That's where I'm going. Maybe I could use the movie downloaded 300 for the rifftrax. It's looking good.

aneel

Yes 300, the movie about how personal-trained Scotsman mount a valiant CG'd stand against the Goa'uld.  I just hope this means more Blast Hardcheese riffs.

So when are they doing these Rifftrax of Porno's I keep hearing about.  Sounds interesting and challenging.  Outside the box.
