Forum page too wide for browser window

Does anyone else have the problem of having to scroll right to read forum messages?

The problem is that the forum page is wider than my browser window. Couldn't the forum just fill the browser window, whatever its size, instead of being a specific width?

You only allowed 31 hours for a reply :P

Question. Does the actual website show up as too wide? I had them sized to be approximately the same, perhaps I could narrow it down a few pixels.

And no, I'm not doing the "fluid 100% width" design, that tends to look like garbage on most monitors these days. Fixed width is the way to go.

I was hoping that someone else would chime in that they have the same problem.

The main website is ever-so-slightly less wide, but it's still too wide (for me). But I don't have a problem with that, because I only need to scroll right once to see everything. On the forum, I have to do it on every page and go back-and-forth if I want to see poster identities.

If I maximize my browser window on my 1024x768 screen, the main page and forum fit perfectly. But having to maximize windows kind of defeats the purpose of having a multi-window desktop.

It seems unlikely that this would only affect me. If so, well then I guess I'm SOL (not "Satellite of Love"; the other thing). But making the page slightly less wide would make it much less annoying for me. ;)

I'll back you on this Eegah, I like to multi task too, so I often play youtube videos or Netflix watch now windows off to the side while I browse the internet.

(... of course I blame myself more than the forum, I should just get a bigger monitor or move my mac into the pc / TV room)

I decreased the width by 100 pixels. Barely noticeable but it should fit on your monitor better. Let me know.

eegah

It's perfect. Thanks!

I hope it's ok for everyone else...

Now my "time logged in" section at the top-right of the page is moved underneath my avatar because it doesn't fit.

I'm seeing the same thing as Mr.Ross....  from a purely astetic standpoint, it looks "broken". I would think shifting the avatar display in the upper right over the same 100 pixels would do the trick... but I'm hardly an expert on how such things can be tweaked with this forum software.

Worse yet, my "Show unread messages" link has now moved beneath the menu bar, where it is unclickable -- a problem, since that's probably the single thing I click on most often on the forum.

Yeah, I get that as well. The text in the top-right corner needs to go down two sizes.

Or maybe just put it back the way it was....

yeah, it was better the way it was, actually

torgosPizza

Hmmmm ok. I'll reset it all.

BTW, I think you guys were looking at it while I was poking around :)

Resetting now...

Same here.

I cannot view it on my widescreen PC, but I can see it on my work laptop, but it is in an odd place and I need to scroll from right to left to see the DVD covers.

Just started doing this today
