Maybe Paramount thinks she can steal her own wardrobe for the movie...save them some scratch?

Don't get me wrong.  She's made some good movies.

She is COMPLETELY wrong for this part!  She's too young & she doesn't have the presence - the gravitas - of the woman that Sarek would marry and take back to Vulcan to raise their son.

Why?  I mean how many lines are they going to give her?  Also, makeup can do a lot.  She actually does look a lot like the original actress from the t.v. show.  But I could care less.  It's probably a part like Christian Slater's in Undiscovered Country.

The Fan Boys, and my mother, are going to have Abrams head if Spock's mother is Vulcan.

Right on, I'm not fan boy (at least I don't think I am) but that phrase stood out to me. Christ in Jodhpurs!

Yeah, that's gotta be wrong.  Spock is half-human, which is a pretty big part of his character.  This must be a mistake.

Here's the original story, I think it's just a typo or a mis-print:  http://www.variety.com/VR1117975655.html

I found this on the Startrek.com site:

(Variety.com states that Ryder will play "the Vulcan mother of Spock," but this error was corrected in the print version of Daily Variety this morning.)

Pictures of Quinto as Spock are up, here and here.  I'd say he looks pretty effing good.

Very excited for this movie!
Judging films by how they look, eh?

David Lynch's Dune and the Star Wars prequel must be f**king genius then....   ::)

And you must be a fucking uber-genius, judging a movie by neither seeing it NOR looking at any of these materials.

I bow down and worship your towering intellect.

But maybe, just maybe, if you can squeeze it into the vast emptiness between your ears, it's possible that I'm excited for this movie based on what I know about it and not simply pictures of Quinto? Maybe I can be excited because he looks good and because I like the direction?

No, of course not. Your instantaneous, ill-informed, snap-judgment and oh-so-rapier-sharp witticism skewered my quite deftly.  Oscar Wilde has nothing on you.

So just kindly go fuck both yourself and your eye-rolling smiley.

And Imrahil has apparently just snapped.

Touchy, aren't we.  No "flaming" rules on this board, I guess.

There's this quote about doing the same thing over and over (in this case it would be trusting Paramount with Trek since Roddenberry passed) and expecting a different outcome being evidence of something....

If this guy from "Lost" turns out to be the next coming of Nicholas Meyer, I'll be the first to admit it.

But I see nothing yet - this guy's resume, the casting choices, the fact that they're making a prequel in the first place, among other things - that deserves the faith of any Trek fan.  This has all the hallmarks of a slap in the mouth as big as Nemesis or Enterprise.

Chaos

I obviously can't speak for anyone else, because I don't know what other people will or will not like. But I know that [/u] am not going to like this movie, because it looks like a brightly polished piece of shit to me. I also know that I will not be paying a single cent to see it. :P

I haven't seen a casting decision yet that I think is a great fit, and only one or two that I can even see as plausibly doing the role justice. And then there's The Rider. *shudder*

This movie has all kinds of scary scribbled all over it.

I can't stress how big of a potential spoiler the following information is. If you want to remain spoiler free DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER.

On the same token, we have not been able to get confirmation from the studio (not like we were expecting to) so for now this information is just rumor.

We've got two different sources on this one. These are the same sources that gave us the intel on Karl Urban cast as Bones and Chris Hemsworth joining on. Now, they have both given us some very juicy tidbits on how this whole time travel/alternate timeline is going down.

Last warning, Spoilers ahead!

End of Spoilers

Stay tuned to the IESB as we continue to bring you the latest Star Trek news.

Oh, dear god.

Since the studio isn't jumping up and down denying it (the way that they did about the real, leaked Nemesis script not being real) I'm hopeful that this isn't true.

But if it.....Is there anyone still wondering if Rick Berman still has his grimy hands in the franchise?  They did some version of this about twenty times during "Voyager" alone.

BTW....if this is true....

He's a truly unpleasant person; so much so that I will probably never pay to read anything he writes.

Yes, but he wrote everything....or at least everything written was ripped off from him.  Just ask him.

He's a little putz.
