I'm sure this must have been mentioned before, a dozen places, but! Before Rifftrax was around I downloaded "Wizard People Dear Reader" from here: http://www.illegal-art.org/video/wizard.html for the first Harry Potter movie. Wizard People is like a rifftrax but different (turn movie sound all the way off, tells a different story then the movie). The HUGE advantage it had over riff trax was that the chapters on the audio cd (yes, it was meant to be burned to an audio cd) were THE SAME as that of the DVD chapters. So synching was not an issue what-so-ever and if you have a dvd player and a cd player with a front display it's really really easy to see how far apart they are.

Got my first Rifftrax today, watched it with some friends, we laughed outrageously, just like we did when we all used to watch MST3K. I also suggest getting the Nelson/Murphy/Corbett power house going together on all movies.

This has been discussed before (Rifftrax CDs) and while it seems good on the surface, the MP3 is the natural progression for this type of project.  Its just simpler.  Check the other thread to read up on what was discussed.

Uhhhh, no. I didn't say they should necessarily be on cds.

I'm suggesting multiple mp3's instead of one. An mp3 for each chapter, timed to the chapter stops in the movie. That way, synching is EASY, and everyone wins, including the people who choose to burn them to cd (I'm fine with my ipod).

We thought about that, but there's a couple reasons why we went with the way we did, (one long MP3).

First are the DVD versions.  A new version usually means new chapter divisions.  What happens when you find you've downloaded the other version?

Second, all MP3 players handle the gaps between tracks differently.  Itunes just introduced "gapless playback" for instance, but sometimes it is set to fade five seconds between songs.  Other MP3 players noticably stutter as tracks shift.  These would all induce frustrating drift.

Thirdly, if you really want to do that, you're free to do it with the MP3 we provide.  But we think our solution works out best right now.

Also, imagine having it sync your Rifftrax everytime there is a chapter break.

It would cease to be fun and become a total chore to watch the Rifftrax.

If that was necessary, you'd have to hit the back button on your DVD player and CD player at the same time, thus putting them to the beginning of said chapter.

still, that whole process would create a lot of extra work for the rifftrax guys vs. just cranking out a MP3 that no one is really having that hard of a time syncing up.
