I stole the above image from IMDb to illuminate the tragically under-reported epidemic of Spice addiction among Hollywood starlets. Yes, the pressure to remain youthful and thin are especially high in the entertainment field, but please don't sacrifice your beautiful dark eyes in pursuit of the Kwisatz Haderach.

Yeah, that whole deal with trying like Hell to make a tropical looking woman look blond... I've had a slight crush on Alba sinse she was in the Flipper show, (me being a few years younger than her, mind you,) and even I say they should have just got a blond actress. She's wearing more makeup that The Thing! It all ends up being distracting, and not in a good way. I'll keep expecting her to ride into battle on a giant worm during FF.

WOMEN OF AMERICA: BLOND HAIR REALLY ISN'T THAT INTERESTING! AT LEAST TRY SOME NEW COLORS!

She is naturally stunningly beautiful, why have fake blue eye and fake blonde hair?   Cuz the comic book character had that eye/hair color?   Who cares?

Fuzzy Necromancer

Maybe because blond hair and blue eyes where the only character traits strong enough to make the person from the comic books recognizable, and they didn't want to hire a more expensive or less competent actress?

Considering the high level of technology we have in body-altering chemicals and prosthetics, most actors are selected on the X-type body shape. Why bother to hire a fat teenage girl for a role when you can have one of the Olsen twins put on a fat suit? Why risk having somebody like Steve Reeves in an action movie when you can hire an actual actor and give them fake muscles? Why bother ever giving work to anybody who doesn't fit one of the seven accepted body types (old matronly woman, young slender buxom woman, chubby bald man, slim toned man, huge man, old man, and Jack Nicholson)?

I'm still not sure whether that rant was serious or satirical.

The blondificatio ncan work with some people, but it looks borderline disturbing on Alba. I mean, she's still hot as the Sun, but....

They went to the same trouble for Mary Jane, Gwen and Betty Brant in Spider-Man 3.  Even in real life, I tend to assume most women are not wearing the hair color they were born with.  Usually it doesn't bother me.
You're not suggesting they should have gouged out Ben Affleck's eyes for Daredevil, are you?

They had to do a lot with hair color and makeup for MJ in Spiderman- there exsist very few redheads in Hollywood, and so ridiculously fewer still who look anything like comic book redheads. Straight hair, no freckles, all the rest?

Remember Eddie Murphy's "White Like Me" scketch in SNL some years back?
That's about how subtle/convincing I find "Natural Blond Alba." She's part Latina, and they're trying to go for, what, German? Swiss? Old timey Blackface needed less makeup than she's wearing to change races!
It's not very important overall, and I AM overreacting, but how long did she have to spend in the chair each morning at the shoot? I'm guessing it's a noticable fraction of Michael Chiklis's time.
I have trouble objectively evaluating her acting, but she can't be that outstandingly good. And Hollywood CAN'T be out of attractive blondes.

Mind you, I had fun with the Fantastic Four movie, and i will most defenitely go to the next one, AND I welcome Alba in ANY movie, but this one little thing always trips me up. Do movie makers often go to THESE extents? Maybe I just noticed it in the FF movie.

I finally figured out why I hate her look in this film...she looks like one of the Simpsons! her skin-tone and hair colour are almost exactly the same so she ends up looking like a real-life version of Bart or Lisa where you can't quite tell where her skin ends and hair begins....it's creepy

Principal_Skin-trade

I don't know, I still think she's sexy. In fact, she is so sexy that I would like to have sex with her!

Junkyard

Yes, even though in her current state, gobs of yellowish makup would start shluffing off.

Fuzzy Necromancer

We need more appearance-diversity in hollywood.

One interesting thing to note: she actually seems to have her spandex zipped up to her neck in the promo photos this time around.

One thing I hope they've CGIed out of the film, though:

Fantastic cameltoes and moose knuckles.
