oh don't get me wrong Starfighter -- the movie kicked ASS

There was one thing that bothered me story wise, but that's it, and the writers explained that it only came off that way cuz of the cutting room. The movie flippin' rocks and the professional critics are flippin' morons with how most of em rated this movie..... GO SEE IT NOW!!!!

The ending opens with a "ten years later" slate on the same shoreline that Will had left Elizabeth before the credits. Elizabeth has a ten year old kid with her - so it looks like Will really performed *wink wink*.... Anyway -- the camera pulls in close to Liz's face and we see a green light flash in front of her. In the distance, Will atop the rigging of the Flying Dutchman appears.

According to the writers (Terry and Ted - or Tnt), the green flash signifies that Will has fulfilled his ten-year duty and is now "alive" again to live whatever life he chooses provided the following: in response to Calypso's curse, Will can only be free from captaining the ship if he finds true love on land after fulfilling the ten year duty of ferrying the dead (which is a reference to the original opera about the Dutchman that the writers didn't want to exclude).

Details about the Flying Dutchman's curse were unfortunatley, and much to the dismay of TnT, removed from the movie's final cut.

You totally rock. Thanks so much. I'll be seeing it again soon & will definitely stay after the credits this time. I can understand why details about the Flying Dutchman were left out. The movie was lengthy. Yet, I really hope the scenes are included on the upcoming DVD.

I'm a bit surprised at all the negative reviews (from the press) the movie is getting. I don't think I've read a positive one yet. Like I mentioned before, the movie is very entertaining. Yes, it's a bit long, but there was never a moment where I looked at my watch thinking when it was going to end. IMHO, the only hokey part was the multiple Jack's. That joke got tired quick. And I would've like to have seen more out of Chow Yun Fat's character.

I'm ready to see it again this weekend

The multiple Jacks were one of my favorite parts!! Tho I haveta agree about Yun Fat Chow -- he's too badass not to have unleashed flames from his hands, killing several East India goons in one shot!!

As for the critics - I reiterate - on this movie they pretty much suck. Their assessment of how the public views things is all wrong, man. It's a summer blockbuster that has been pretty much consistent, and totally fun! You can't go to a PotC movie and expect Shawshank Redemption! The IMDB *USER* rating is at nine stars or so right now. Goes to show how much the pro critics know....

I suggest people ignore the critics on this one and just effin' watch the movie and have fun. It's a great swashbuckler and a fantastic movie!

davy jones's love was the sea more or less   thats why it was her nature to not be there.  fickle and all that.  his life his love and his lady is the sea, it rules.

So why...

Calypso?  Seriously, she seems like a totally random choice other than the fact that most people have heard of/read the Odyssey, so they would have heard of the name.  Granted there were lots of nymphs/oceanids/nereids that were associated with/only with the ocean, but all of the significant water-based gods were men Oceanus/Poseidon.  So why not go outside of Greek mythology or create your own [and if that's what they were trying to do, a different name would have suited]?

technically an englsih god of water would have been most ideal since the pirates seemed to mostly be the english type pirates but i guess the greeks would be the first sea farers therefore the first pirates.

Also, who else was severely disappointed that they made the Arab pirates wimpy and kind of effeminate?  Seriously, not getting into CURRENT social implications of this, the Arab pirates were really badass.

Also, they had the most admirable of beards:





Probably the Egyptians or Phoenecians would have been the first pirates.

I thought the French Pirates were by far the most womanly lol. And as for choosing the name Callypso -- I dunno that it mattered to me what name was assigned to the goddess. Essentially, the goddess has the same duties between different mythos, so what does it matter what name she is referred to by, ya know? I got your back, Sarc -- I dug how Davy Jones DID fall in love with the sea. And I enjoyed how she turned into that crazy flippin' maelstrom! That battle sequence was astounding!

Why did Chow Yun-Fat call Kiera Callypso? Did he mean she was Callypso, or was he just talking about her? I wasn't really paying attention during that part, so if some one can explain that'd be great.

I liked this one better than the second movie, and maybe more than the first one (although I think that might only be because Bill Nighy wasn't in the first). Still I think they could have cut some stuff, maybe made it a little shorter. Oh well...

I don't know about you guys but I loved how they put some of the theme park ride into the movie somehow. The whole going down the waterfall and the voices. Wow I just thought that was amazing.

I absolutely loved it.
I should've gone alone.
Everyone was asking me questions.
I was getting annoyed.
Going to see it tomorrow hopefully with my Dad.
It will be better the second time.
I know it.
Overall I think everything was great.
The music was fantastic!
The fight scenes were awesome aswell.
Jack the monkey.....is my new hero.
