Oh I'm sorry Court and Dragon, it's terrible to lose a pet. :(

Why so young for Coyote?

I'm having a bit of a rough month.  But she lived a good life.  And a long one.  She was OLD, bless her.
Wow, you're not kidding!

I'm still getting over losing my eldest Husky almost 2 months ago :(

Keep hanging in there!!

THE QUEEN!!!

Sorry about your dog, Courtney. I lost my cat a couple years ago with whom I spent more than half my life and, let me tell you, I didn't go to bed without crying until two months later. Now I have two other cats who brighten my life, but I still miss the one I grew up with.

We're not sure. The family got back from being away from a few days, and he was almost gone. Apparently some kind of traumatic internal injury (might've been some kind of animal attack, we do live in the mountains), and when he got to the vet there wasn't anything that could be done. Had to put him down :(

Folks, meet Sammie, suppose to be part border collie and my Grandpa thinks part Corgi to. But your guess is as good as mine. Just a pup.

that's just how we ride.

You sure there's no Chow mixed in?

Cool Pup! :o

Maybe, we'll just have to see how she grows, she's got an upturned tail. Always moving to, hard to get a picture

that's just how we ride.

nahhh, I just started calling her Sammie
that's just how we ride.

Plastic Self-Cleaning Duck

Congrats on the new puppy.  Looks like he might be several "parts".  Those are usually the best dogs.

Anyone mind if I mention that it's going to be two years (Oct 6th) since I lost my baby, Shorty.  Miss him every day.

LBeria

I've had TONS of pets (starting with Hernia the Siamese that my parents bought before I was born) up to the three that think they own the house now.

This is Cat.  Her name was to be Fuzz along with her sister Psycho Kitty (tragically killed by someone who didn't like black cats).  But "Cat" is all she responded to since we had to yell it constantly to get her to quit doing things.
Spoiler
She's now 10 and LOVES plastic bags.  And always looks at us as if she's trying to figure out where her staff is so we can tend to her every need.

This is Cody, our Sheltie.  He's a Service Animal and Therapy Dog.
Spoiler
Oh...and he's not thrilled about being wet from rain or baths.....
Spoiler
Cody has been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and we have no idea how old he is since he was a puppy mill rescue.  So, it's time for him to begin training a replacement so he can retire and relax.

Now we have Harleen Quinzell (Harley Quinn) and, yes, she's just as psychotic as her namesake.  She's a Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle mix).
Spoiler
She's a Service Animal In Training....and a hoot!  Cody constantly looks at her like, "What ARE you doing??" when she chews on her feet or chases her tail.

And, yes, the cat is still annoyed..... ;D

P.S.  All of our pets (except Cat who was abandoned by her mother) are adopted from shelters.  These animals are looking for a Forever Home just like those from breeders but you can't usually get a much better and more loving animal (and often a pure-bred or "designer dog") at the Humane Society.

As a kid, I had a golden retriever named Jay until he was put to sleep sometime around when I was 8.
I then had a dalmation named, creatively, Spot, until she got hit by a train 3 years later.
Then we got a mixed breed dog named Pepper.  A friend of my sister found it abandoned on the side of the road, and we took the dog in.  Pepper was with us for 9 years until she acquired some sort of degenerative spinal disease and we had her put to sleep.  That was a very sad day.
Then a few days after that (this was in 2002), we got Moby, another mixed breed we found at the pound.  He's a huge white dog with some brown patches on his eye and one of his ears.  Moby is still around today.  Since mom and dad were getting up in age, they gave him away to my brother who now takes care of him.  So Moby was the last family dog.

I had a cat named Fluffy around the same time Jay died.  Fluffy stayed around for a few years, then just kind of disappeared.  He was an outdoor cat.  I think one day he just got hit by a car.

Several years later, around 1998, we got a grey tabby named Catbert and a white cat named Buster from my aunt just before she moved to Texas.  Buster didn't stick around long; he just sort of vanished.  Catbert was around until about 2005.  I don't remember what happened to him.  I brought Catbert with me when I moved to North Carolina in 2004, where he peed all over the carpet and clawed up the rug, costing me my pet deposit and stunk up the place.

In late 2001, a black and white cat we named Frank came around.  He just arrived at the house.  There was a hole in the basement that led to outside, and Frank just came inside for shelter from the cold.  He started just hanging in the basement, but then got bolder and bolder.  By the time he was sleeping on the couch in the middle of the day, we just decided to adopt him.

Not a great idea.  Frank actually turned out to be a bit of a bully.  In the summer of 2002, he started bullying Catbert around and taking all his food.  Catbert lost some weight, and by then we noticed and started keeping a very close eye on Frank.

Frank eventually crawled under the porch and died for some reason.

Nowadays I don't have any pets.  The landlord won't allow them.  But I really do want a cat.

I know this isn't inherently funny, but for some reason the way you phrased it really cracked me up.  As if he's doing it to be obstinate or spiteful.

Yeah it cracks me up too, because that's the kind of cat Frank was.   I'm pretty sure he was an abandoned or possibly runaway animal like Pepper; he was declawed and chubby.

Since the only pet pictures I've put on here so far have been snakes, here's someone universally cute for a change: My hamster Jaqueline.
