Really didn't care for it. It was a combination of 'Movie is a snoozefest/jokes didn't hit the mark.' The movie is bad, but not absurd. It's boring, which means you have to bring A Plus riffing to carry it and instead the riffs were 'meh'. They ragged on the 90's, but in uninspired ways. They constantly ragged on the lead being unlikable, but they just beat the joke dead instead of moving on to something else to riff on and make funny. Repetitive dull jokes. And I swear they were trying to bring a more contemporary feel to the riffs which felt out of place in an MST show. I definitely prefer more broad and 'generic' humor, since that is a rarity nowadays. I can still watch old MST's and laugh my fool head off at them because there is a certain timelessness to that humor.

I felt Atlantic Rim, which is the same genre, was much better. Both in the spectacular awfulness of the film and the riffs working with it. And I grade that on the low end of what they've done since relaunch. Santo is also a far better riff. I hate to say it, but I honestly feel this was the worst episodes since the relaunch began.

The one thing I enjoyed: the last skit. I have a soft spot for Mean Gene and it fit the robots wars skit. Also it looks like we're getting the new host tagged in. Will be interested in seeing her at work. Heard lots of good things about her.

I didn't have the same reaction as you. I liked the first ep a lot, but I liked this one even more. It has a similar feel to Space Mutiny for me.

I don't feel like it feels out of place at all - it feels just like an MST episode to me.

Atlantic Rim I didn't like as much, I must admit, although I liked it a lot more upon revisiting it.

Yeah, this was my favorite of the two so far. I feel like things are starting to hit a pre-Netflix stride. Can't wait for the next one!

I'm glad the credits riffs have returned.

The diversity of opinion is what makes MSTies great: One MSTie's trash is another MSTie's treasure!

I can't believe I missed this one, I will have to watch it tonight.

Thought this one was a big step in the right direction. So much so that I'm really looking forward to rest of the season and I didn't have that same feeling after the first episode. Sure, I could nitpick some things I didn't like, but I've decided to just relax.
