George and the Christmas Star?!

[Writerlad]

Hey all! Longtime lurker, finally lured out to post because of this latest Christmas short. I was shocked when watching this short because I recognized the segment with the guy who builds a spaceship to get a star for his Christmas tree. It was clearly an early prototype (complete with rougher animation that looks like a student film) of what became the obscure 1985 holiday special "George And The Christmas Star", a half hour animated story of a similar-looking guy who builds a spaceship to get a star for his Christmas tree (although the longer version is even crazier and includes space pirates, space rangers, a space biker gang, another astronaut, Santa Claus, and a robot who sings Paul Anka songs!)

Anyway, just wanted to pass that bit of holiday trivia along. Don't think it's available streaming anywhere, other than old VHS conversions of it floating around on Youtube. And here's a link to a review online, if anyone wants to see screenshots from it. (Couldn't post any attachments, sorry.)  Merry Christmas!
