Pak-Man

I've got a good feeling about Munchies and The Christmas Dragon looks like a delight. Super-jazzed.

Edward J Grug III

Two already riffed by Rifftrax

Solid looking line-up though
FINE

Munchie is what happens when a horror movie gets a children's movie spinoff.

The Lurker

The weird thing is that The Bubble actually has a 3D version.

It's worth noting that when Wizards of the Lost Kingdom was already riffed by Rifftrax, it vanished at about the time the MST episode was announced. Now that's probably a coincidence, and Ator peacefully exists alongside its MST version, but I think I know where I'm gonna use my black Friday coupon, just to be safe.

Pak-Man

Also, during the last host segment of the night, they dropped the season premiere date. March 4th!

Especially with a trailer like this...

One question.  I'm thinking of doing a thread on the theatrical trailers (or as close as possible) of the various Season 13 movies. Should I use spoiler tags?

If it is a dedicated thread you could just put SPOILERS in the subject line and leave them free in the thread...

I'm most excited about the Bubble and The Batwoman.

If the writing is good this slate of films is better than I could have hoped for. I mean, I think more than half are from the 60's or early 70's my fav period for films and for film to be riffed. Yes!

And the only movies I've seen before, beside the two that were rifftraxed of course, are the Gamera and The Mask. Both are ripe for the riffings. Haven't actually seen the Gamera since I was a kid.

I hope we find out at some point which ones fell through.  There was one riff choice that they had to pull and replace for this season and I'm curious what it was.

During the fundraising Joel mentioned he had found a new Manos. Though I wonder if it's The Bubble. That one would seem to qualify.

Did they ever mention what film had to be pulled/replaced? The various S-13 lists appear to have the same movies. I would have thought the two candidates for films with flimsy rights issues were the Gamera film, The Batwoman and Doctor Mordrid. In the case of Doctor Mordrid, I could see Disney stepping in and forbidding its use, because it is actually Doctor Strange.  The producer who held the rights to make a Doctor Strange film in the 90s lost the rights due to production on the movie being held up. Much like with The Fantastic Four, they were rushing to release a cheap Doctor Strange film before the option expired, but days before principal photography was to begin, there was an industry wide strike. When the strike was over, the option had expired, but they already had a cast in place, a complete script, and all the sets and costumes.  So they changed the name of the character from Strange to Mordrid and made the film anyway.  Marvel let them get away with it, but that was long before Marvel was owned by Disney.

As for the Gamera film, I was hoping it was being replaced with a different Gamera film, Gamera: Super Monster which is the absolute worst giant monster movie ever made and deserves to be rifled. But so far the same Sandy Frank era Gamera film is onbthe S-13 lists.

Apparently,  this Gamera film is an AIP one that wasn't touched by Sandy Frank.   They haven't said what film was pulled yet.
