This lesser-known sequel to the Steve McQueen classic "The Blob" was produced by Jack H. Harris, who produced the original "Blob," the remake of "The Blob" in 1988, and, in his final credited producer role yet another Blob-related picture called "Blobermouth" in 1991. But Harris was no one-trick pony: he also produced such wonderful B-movie spectacles as "4-D Man" and "Dinosaurus," in addition to serving as a producer for John Carpenter's (still slightly watchable) directorial debut, "Dark Star."
The film was directed by none other than Larry Hagman, who played J.R. on the long-running (and once-rebooted) soap "Dallas," This is Hagman's ONLY film credit as a director, and it's no mystery why.
I dare you to watch the opening sequence and not want to riff this movie. The credits are played over footage of a cute kitten playing in some tall grass. That kitten is probably the best directorial decision of the film, as the rest of it is acted, shot and scored so poorly that it you can't look away--it's like witnessing a gruesome car accident. There are no redeeming elements to this film. Also pretty racist, but I think that's covered under the heading "terrible movie from the 70's."
