Resolution and Codec Refresh

[JJohnson]

I've been downloading my Rifftrax movies and shorts to organize into Plex, realizing that I've been (a) a customer from the beginning all the way at Roadhouse, and (b) I have bought over 260 shorts and over 100 movies from Rifftrax (edit: 449 items total).

My question / comment is: Will Rifftrax update the catalog to use the x265 codec, and make the shorts/movies available in 720p and 1080p?  If you switch to the x265 you get much smaller file sizes and really good quality.  I was noticing this while watching "Walking to School," the Zune version (how I miss Zune), and it's a bit blocky.  The higher resolution version is MPEG-2 but for 10:22 of video/audio in B&W, 289MB seems a bit much, and it can definitely be re-encoded into a more efficient and more modern codec, taking up less space on the hard drive so I can fit more riffs on one disk.

My 2¢.

I also really appreciate the subtitles you've been adding to movies and shorts, because sometimes I miss a riff because I'm laughing so much.  Please keep up the great work!

Honestly, I don't think anyone who can help you will see this - your best bet is to send an email via the Rifftrax contact page: https://www.rifftrax.com/contact
