Why did invading aliens/cyborgs/otherdimensional beings need to recruit insiders at an earth military base for their invasion, especially if the plan involved invaders swarming out of a portal machine at a military base instead of some kind of infiltration of various government positions?

Who was this highly trained homoerotic military even supposed to be there to fight?

Why does a movie with so much homoerotic fanservice still subject it's protagonist to compulsory heterosexuality?

How did the non-human drill sergeant manage to learn everything needed to impersonate a human and subsequently worm his way into a position of authority?

If they need human minions to fill out their ranks, why all the rigorous selection for the Z squad?

How did they get the Z squad members to fight on their side anyway? I didn't see any evidence of mind control and no indoctrination beyond "let's all drink blood at midnight and poke you with cigars". Were they turning people into aliens/cyborgs/whatevers? How would that alter their allegiance?

What purpose does the whole weird cult element serve?
