yet another "homage" to Hitchcock...gone horribly wrong

As a huge fan of Hitchcock, I am amazed it took me so long to figure out that this movie is supposed to be Nguyen's homage to Vertigo.
And by homage, I mean cut the word vertigo out of a English to Creole pidgin dictionary, duct tape it to the nearest wall, and throw really moldy hamdingers at it because that's about as close to Vertigo as it comes.
Watching it a second time, I can see how a few scenes were aching to be as beautiful and fragile as Madeline and Scottie, but then they trip over their feet and plunge into the horrid.  At least Hitchcock is dead so he doesn't have to see this crap.
The Birds I can see how he thought he could get away with a stupid version, but Vertigo is....well, a masterpiece (barring the weird floating head scene in the middle; it's like "Money" in the middle of "Dark Side of the Moon", you just put up with it until it's over because the rest is so awesome).  The music, the story, the parallels and details....maybe I'm just a Hitchcock snob, but you just don't redo something like that.
I can only hope that he will next tackle Strangers on a Train.  Or Notorious.  Oh man, can you imagine the hell that would be watching someone crush the beauty of Grant and Bergman? I cringe, yet I long to see it!!
