1101 - Reptilicus - Spoiler Thread

[Pak-Man]

If you've watched, or are watching, the Season 1 premiere, discuss it here!

[BathTub]

Woo here we go!

[ManUnderMask]

Stream's unwatchable for me. Tried two different browsers, reset the router, reloaded, nothing. Goes for a few minutes and freezes.

[BathTub]

Working fine here.

Who was that with Wil?

So the doors are now the actual body of the ship, that's cool.

We interrupt this movie...

ad breaks are weird.

[BathTub]

Joke premise falls apart in light of English paper!

No, doctor dhalby was taller.

[BathTub]

Not ready, not ready!

[BathTub]

The general reminds me of John Noble.

[BathTub]

There, that's where my finger is.

[BathTub]

Ahhh the song was by Paul and Storm.

That was great!

[Edward J Grug III]

The general reminds me of John Noble.

Reminded me of Mark Duplas.

Holy shit, that was great!

[Iron Curtain]

I posted this in the spoiler group in the MST3K Revival League on facebook, but I'll repost it again here:

A lot of the episode 1101 reminds me of the MST3K Movie: The 10 (instead of 6) movie theater seats, the hi-def host segments and door transitions, the higher production values, the lack of commercial bumpers, etc.

That being said, I must confess as I saw Episode 1101: Reptilicus first (I went to the NYC premiere) and then I saw the movie which I purchased on Blu-Ray/DVD, and when I watched the movie, I noticed the similarities.

All in all, I just think it's great that Rifftrax and MST3K both coexist. The more riffing, the merrier!

[Iron Curtain]

Who was that with Wil?

Erin Gray. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001292/

[MartyS (Gromit)]

I guess I remember Erin Gray from that terrible Buck Rodgers show, she looked and sounded so familiar but even after looking her up I can't say I watched much of the stuff she was in.

Really nice to see Gypsy do a few riffs.

Cool to see Servo flying around the theater.

The writing is really good.

The fast pace of the riffing took a while to get used to but by half way through I didn't think it was too fast.

I want to freeze frame a lot during the tunnel sequence, seems to be a lot of stuff in those rooms.

[BathTub]

Ah the Buck Rogers lady, thought it was Linda Carter for a moment.

[Johnny Unusual]

Yeah, I finished and there are some things I'm not digging too much but overall this is VERY high quality MST3k on almost all counts. The only down side (so far) is the sketch writing in between the movie didn't strike me as particularly funny, but that was never my favourite part of the show. But man, the monster song written by Paul and Storm is super great, the new intro is really good and the new door to the theatre sequence looks more amazing than a door to the theatre sequence should.  Did you every want to see where the hosts eat, sleep, etc?  Now you see it every episode!

I will say, in so many ways this is the most gorgeous that this cowtown puppet show has ever looked.
