I think Star Trek V is the best yet.  Kevin and Mike work so well together.  I think it just works better when you hear other voices.  Also, Kevin does a great Shatner.

I immediately knew it was going to be good when Kevin said "Spo-ock..." straight off the bat.  You could tell they were both happy to be riffing the movie and riffing it together.  You don't really hear that enthusiam or spontaneity in the other commentaries.

ST5 was best so far in that Kevin Murphy was there WITH Mike Nelson. That alone was worth the price of admission. Those two guys coulda just spent the time discussing restaurants and travel expenses and I woulda been a happy camper. However, in all honesty, of the three I've experienced thus far, The Fifth Element was the funniest one. Road House had its moments, but I didn't really bust a gut. ST5 was funny, but not AS funny as Mike's downright trouncing of Fifth Element.

Fifth Element was Laugh Out Loud funny. A lot. Here's a few examples in just the first ten minutes or so.

"Anyone who took chemistry knows that the Fifth Element is boron, and once you get past its thrilling atomic weight there's nothing really great about boron."

"Sometimes it's best just to humor DisembAudio."

"Fresh donkey meat!"

"Aziz Light! Half the fat and one third the calories..."

"Did Aziz eat a whole roasted turkey?"

"Got some completely nonpoisonous water for ya! ...It'll taste a little like goat urine but you'll get used to it."

"...C Everett Koop in a bathrobe"

"Aziz didn't eat a turkey he apparently drank a bottle of Wild Turkey"

"9021 uhoh!"

"Aziz is temporarily roused from his coma"

"He's gonna write a note to his pants apologizing for the forthcoming wetness."

"But leave Keith Richards I don't think he's healthy enough to travel"

"That's what you get when you send a Luke Perry to do a Jason Priestley job."

"Aw man! Dreamt I was in Hudson Hawk!"
My wishlist: Leonard Part 6, Gigli, Shanghai Surprise, Mannequin, Supercross, Spice World, Pluto Nash, Angel Heart, Ghost Dad, Flashdance, Home Alone, Lifeforce, Maximum Overdrive, Phantasm, Poltergeist 3, Pretty Woman, Robocop, Sixth Sense

Movies I don't want Riff'd
any Tom Cruise movies. Yuck

Wow, way to give away the farm. Don't you think posting so many riffs in here is a bit excessive?

No, he's right.  Those were some awesome riffs on The Fifth Element.

I think Star Trek V is one of the worst movies I have EVER seen.

I don't think this sentiment can be restated enough. heh, I had forgotten (or blocked it out, whichever) that this was where the Uhura fan dance came from...

I only just got this track last night, and haven't had time to listen to more than about 30 minutes or so, but it's quite good so far... I like how Mike and Kevin sort of have that 'buddies going to a bad movie' feel about their riffing...

RandyMistie

Whenever I talk to people about the Star Trek V Rifftrax for the first time, I say, "Mike Nelson and Kevin Murphy riffed on the worst Star Trek movie ever..." and they invariable say, "Is that the one with the whales?"  The thing is, I know for a fact that these people went to the theater to SEE Star Trek V and they have no memory of it.  They block it out.  Many of them saw it WITH ME!

Even when I say, "It's the one with the horrible campfire song and poor Nichelle Nichols in a nekkid fan dance!" they just stare blankly.  It's not until I put in the movie with the Rifftrax that they remember seeing it.  It's just so bad you block it out, I guess.

I wasn't so lucky.

That should totally be on the poster.

I think this rifftract was the best so far. I really think having a second person to.. well.. riff off of helps a lot. I'd like to see Kevin return as often as he likes. And maybe additional geeky willing guests.

I laughed a lot more during this episode than any of the others. Well worth the money.

So far, I think Star Trek V has been the best.  Like others have said, having a second person there (and especially someone as hilarious as Kevin Murphy) just makes all the difference in the world.  I really liked Roadhouse and Fifth Element, too, but there's just that extra-special dynamic there with the two guys together that made Star Trek V the best yet.  Kevin pointed out that DisembAudio sounds exactly like Bob the Tomato up front in the intro and from then on, I knew it would be gold.  I'll never hear that voice the same way again.

MrPsycohed

Definatly the best. The whole riffing format really benefits from the occasional back and forth of multiple riffers. It gives the whole experience a little vocal variance. This isn't to say Mike is monotone, it's just that getting a different voice in there to break things up tends to give jokes more impact. It spreads the humor around a bit, as Mike and Kevin have very different ways of delivering jokes. Plus, you can tell different kinds of jokes when you have someone else to play off of. The whole thing seemed to have way more energy than any of the previous RiffTrax.  This is likley the result of the fantastic comedic chemistry between the Mike and Kevin.

That, and Star Trek V is easily the worst film they've riffed thus far. Easily.

I can only hope and pray that Kevin will come back. Or, y'know, make blood sacrifices by the dark of the night...

I'm going to agree with the majority here and say that STV is my favorite of the three so far.  Kevin really adds something to it, and they make each other funnier.  And they can bounce jokes off of each other, like when Mike says something about teleporters, and Kevin says "If you ever geek out like that again, I'll hold you down and pull out all your nose hairs."  Or something like that.

I really hope that Mike gets some other guest riffers, it seems to work well.  Heck, it's why MST3K worked so well...there was three of them, each with different personalities and different deliveries.

RandyMstie,  I have to disagree with you on The Creeping Terror.  I thought they did amazing work with that one.  "Mike, what's he doing to that car?"  the fat grandpa jokes, the rectal thermometer, "Her hinder's out of control!" but the capper is the host segment with Mike adjusting his stereo gear and standing there for a full 90 seconds, enraptured by the stupid town-dance music.  That episode is priceless, even with the stupid rug-monster.

Hmmm, now that you remind me of some of the best riffs from that one, I may have to re-evaluate, (re-watch), that episode.  It's always good to have an excuse to re-watch any episode, really.

When I was reading your post, I could "see" every scene you mentioned and it made me chuckle with every line.  You may be right about that one, my friend, you just may be right...

One of my all-time favorite MST moments.  Just standing there, perfecting the levels every now and then...
