I hope non-US political cartoons don't count.

Dahl from the Japan Times appears to be in a competition with himself to produce the most stultifyingly dull cartoons ever.

I don't find Stratton and Varney funny.
Doesn't make me a bad person.

I feel that there's supposed to be a joke here.

Marianne Winters is presumably very attractive?

I can't think of any pun or connotation that would make that a poor choice of words.

Thrilled means engorged.

The Comic Curmudgeon already called this one out, but seriously, are they just TRYING To see how far Heathcliff's equity can carry them? "Nobody's gonna pull us from the papers! It's HEATHCLIFF!"

In this day and age, where comic strips are largely struggling, it is kind of a baller move.

The guy is clearly trying to end his career. I wonder how long it'll take...

My wife's take on the Ham Helmet cartoon:
QuoteI kinda get it. He comes home from a long day, he's hungry, and sees everything as ham.

Somehow I doubt this is the case. My first thought was that we're just supposed to know that this man has a severe accent, so "Home sweet home" sounds like "Ham sweet ham."

I think the most likely scenario is that the cartoon was accidentally mirrored before attaching the quote at the bottom. This would make every instance of "HAM" "MAH" instead, implying that coming home is like entering a land where Mah rules with an iron fist. Every member of the house is in the army of Mah, just waiting for the man to come home so they can oppress him.

That's definitely it.

You are both giving it too much credit:

Somehow my theory is still more likely.

EDIT: Apparently Heathcliff wears a helmet that has words indicating whatever he is about to eat. So this implies that everybody in the family is ready to demolish a ham upon this guy's arrival. The flag is still a mystery.

Rest assured all my best men are on this case.

UPDATE: Heathcliff is known to use the house's flagpole to voice his feelings.
