You didn't like The Force Awakens? That's a damn shame.  :(

No, I went into The Force Awakens not knowing if it was gonna be good or not, but it WAS! And I liked Rogue One as well. So, yeah, now my expectations are higher this time, I KNOW these guys can make a good Star Wars movie.
I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?

I actually already have my ticket for December 14.

I was away all week and had no service, so I come home to a bunch of messages from my friend-- and we've been friends since 4th grade, like 25 years. He already booked me, his wife and himself. We'd already agreed to see it together, so, cool thing to come home to.

I just want a Star Wars movie that leaves me emotionally fulfilled... and that's not a hard thing to do with Star Wars.

So anxious for this movie. ^_^ But in a bad way, too. I missed the Episode VII opening day because of bad weather. If that happens again, I'm officially cursed! >_<

I was up late last night because I was eager to see the first reactions on social media to The Last Jedi, and I was really happy to see they were all really positive. I know it's probably too early to say, but this sucker could come in at a 95% or greater on Rotten Tomatoes. We'll know on Tuesday for sure from what I've heard.

Anais, we were going to see The Last Jedi together. Now that you're gone, I'll just have to see it for us both. You were one of my closest friends and I cared about you so much. I am determined not to let this devastate me though. You would want me to stay strong for your sake. I'll always miss you. I'm sorry for those in this thread who don't like this outpouring of emotions but I had to say something here because it's like some kind of promise I'm making to her. Let this movie in some part be dedicated to the memory of Anais.Butterfly. With her humility, she would never accept such an honor, but she meant so much to me that I will insist to my dying day that she deserves this honor.

It was a lot different from what I was expecting but I really enjoyed it. I don't wanna say more just now, even though this is a spoilers allowed thread.

I'll say Luke's first reaction to meeting Rey is awesome, though.

Well, that was...frustrating.

I didn't hate it, but there was just something about it that I couldn't get into. I was just sitting there watching it in a detached way, rather than getting sucked into it like I did with Force Awakens. I'll need to see it again to get a better idea about it.
As for the movie itself...it felt like it was spinning it's wheels. Yes, a lot of stuff happens. But at the end of it not as much has changed as you'd think.

This thread says spoilers welcome, but I don't know if that still means keeping them in spoiler tags. So I'll do that for now anyway.

I really liked the fake out of Luke being a projection. But then he dies anyway, so what was the point?
The death of Snoke had no weight because we don't know anything about him. And the editing tipped their hand that it was going to happen anyway, so it didn't even have a shock value.
Rey and Kylo join forces after Snoke is dead, and then they are right back to fighting again. So it made the turn pointless. The characters which were adversaries at the beginning of the movie were adversaries at the end.
Leia surviving from being in space was stupid, and felt tacked on. They would have been much better off having her be the one to stay behind on the big ship.

While there were some things I didn't agree with, and thought some things could have used some trimming, 95% of the time I was really enjoying myself in this film. I need to see it again because as a lot of other reviewers have said, it's a lot to take in. That being said, I think I need to see it again and that is always a good sign.

I had issues with some of the humor.  There was too much of George Lucas in it, and too many silly creatures.  Other than that, I loved everything about it.

I loved that each of the main characters had an arc.  And they were cool interesting arcs. Po's was unexpected and cool.

I liked that Luke still had stuff to learn.

I loved that everything wasn't black and white; right and wrong.  There needs to be more shades of gray in Star Wars.

I loved the description of the force, and the visuals used.

I loved how aware of itself this movie is.  The whole theme of throwing away the past vs looking towards the future.  It's such a perfect metophor for this movie's entire existence.

I loved Rose.  I didn't love her CGI moments, but I loved her.

I loooovvvved the visuals.  The red planet is soooo great.  The red throne room reminded me of Kill Bill.

I think that it offers a lot more interesting things to think about than the Force Awakens.
