And the award for the poster who's contributed the least to discussions is...

Well -- do we all generally agree that Raimi is far from the /best/ choice?

Raimi's the best suggestion I've heard so far. I'll see it, whatever the director, as long as Peter Jackson isn't involved with it.

yawn.

It'd be like re-inventing the wheel at this point.  That's why I think it should be left alone for the time being, anyone who'd attempt it would be vilified for not being like Jackson, if anyone had to do it I'd like a atmosphere director like M. Night or Del Toro.

M Night -- I can't wait to see him try something fantasy --

the guy has talent, but it's being put to tired use right now....

So, Jackson's an almighty cinematic God who can't be touched upon, and if anyone ever tried, people would be so outraged that the movie would fail? Suuuuuuuree... You just keep telling yourself that....

A majority of the American viewing public neither knows who Jackson is or cares who he is. They'll go see the movies no matter who's behind them.

I think the group of people who would vilify anyone besides Jackson is the textbook definition of a "vocal minority."  Most rational movie fans know that there are other competent directors out there who could make The Hobbit a quality movie.

but the fact he's made the trilogy so well would mean anyone but a very select few would be blamed for any issues an adaption of 'The Hobbit' might have.  So, as I said it's probably best leaving it as it is for the time being.

Yeah, I think as long as Peter Jackson isn't involved with the film, The Hobbit should be fine.

Boy, wasting space on message boards must really take it out of you, huh? To spend hours upon hours typing "yawn" over and over again because someone disagrees with your opinions, yet in another thread, you criticize someone who criticizes everyone who likes movies like Saw and the like. Shouldn't you just readily admit that you are also in the wrong? Or is your God, Peter Jackson, not going to let you?

Peter Jackson fans are starting to remind me a lot of Scientologists.

I don't necessarily want them to eliminate the possibility of doing more sequels with the original cast, but I also don't want them to run the series into the ground.  If they did more Spider-Man movies and they weren't going to have any of the original cast, I'd almost prefer they do a whole reboot than try to act like these different actors are exactly the same characters.  To me, Kirsten Dunst *IS* as essential to the cast as Toby Maguire or James Franco.  You don't mess with a good thing.

I just plain hate Kirsten Dunst in the Spider-Man movies. It's like Peter grew out of his dorky phase, Harry grew into a spolied alcoholic, but MJ's still the giggly high school dimbulb. You can give her red hair, but she's still the stereotypical blonde. We're all supposed to love her, but I just want Venom to eat her brain. I'll be pulling for Gwen.
