:o

I had to back that at the minimal level, I remember when that game came out, it was the first spectator game, it was expensive so I only played it a few times, but they had extra monitors up above the game so there were always people just standing around watching the good players play it.

I remember putting a few quarters into that game too and just remembering how many times I died.

I wonder if an animated movie of this lesser-known laserdisc arcade game is next, a pizza place that was around when I was a kid had it:

I'm going to opine a lot more about the original when it inevitably shows up on the Top 50 list, So for now, I'm gonna say I am extremely interested in seeing this get made. :^)

Animation Addicts Podcast #110: Don Bluth & Gary Goldman Interview
Quote
The animation world has been abuzz since animation legends Don Bluth and Gary Goldman announced they were doing a crowdfunding campaign for a sizzle reel for Dragon's Lair: The Movie. The duo first started on Kickstarter, but recently moved over to Indiegogo last week.

In less than a week, the new Indiegogo campaign has amassed over $200K, reaching 80% of its $240K goal. However, they don't want to stop at $250K, they have a lot of awesome stretch goals, contests, giveaways and more sneak peek's for backers in the the coming weeks.

The Rotoscopers had the opportunity to sit down with Don and Gary to discuss the campaign and film. Check it out in the newest episode of the Animation Addicts Podcast!

Wonder if it's the same $200K they got from their Kickstarter.

They got nothing from Kickstarter since they cancelled a few days before the end, but they have been using that cancelled campaign as a mailing list to promote the new campaign.  It all seems a bit underhanded to me so I have not backed the new project.

To rephrase, I wonder how much of that money is coming from people who were willing to throw in the first time. Will it cap out there, or actually generate more interest this time?

I'm kinda torn, myself. Dragon's Lair is one of my favorite things ever, but I loved it because it was an interactive experience. I don't know if it would hold up as a cartoon.

I don't remember what it was up to when they cancelled the Kickstarter, but I think they are over that number now, they have passed $300,000.

Cool, I look forward to seeing this. Dragon's Lair is great, and classic Don Bluth stuff in general.
