Is there such a thing as "too awful to riff"?

This is the most advanced riff ever -- definitely NOT for beginners. I have watched every MST and nearly every Rifftrax except for a few with animal cruelty, and I had to use every trick I could think of to endure this movie. First I had to achieve some sort of Zen state of nothingness to tune out the wretched acoustic guitar loop. I never fully succeeded, but I did minimized the pain. My other strategy was to think one scene at a time. I knew that if I could endure the current scene, I could make it through the next one too. Because the number of scenes in the movie had to be finite, I knew I could endure the whole film.

And that was watching with the Rifftrax, which made me laugh! Imagine what Mike, Kevin and Bill went through watching and re-watching this to write the jokes! They deserve a Nobel prize.

I can imagine those of us who watched Rollergator having a ten-year reunion to compare psychological scars. I know I, for one, will never be the same.

The point is. This is the first Rifftrax that I actually regret buying. There's incompetently bad (like The Room or Birdemic). And there's dull bad (like The Starfighters or Fun in Balloon Land). But they still had the potential for fun, because whoever made them was honestly trying to make a movie. This thing OTOH feels like someone made a deliberate attempt to make the least entertaining movie possible. And they succeeded. No matter how good the riff might be, I find this to be, quite frankly, unwatchable.

I completely agree.

It is the first VOD I've deleted without finishing.

This thread just made me so excited for this riff! Can't wait till I can watch it!

I watched it in one sitting.
Very funny...loved the ending when Rollergator 2 came on the screen during the film credits  :D
In defense of the endless repetitive guitar loop: don't blame the musician, blame the film's sound editor or whoever was in charge of the film score!  ;D

Wow, guess it's a good thing Dr. Forrester never found this one.

I for one welcome our neon green lab coated overlord.
I survived the San Diego Comic Con 2010 Hall H stabbing.

No, I still blame him. He's a pretty crummy musician.

I just find it funny that according tho the credits, the guitar noodling was tracks from an album called METAL.

Yes.

Didn't like it, took me multiple sittings to get through it. Probably because I generally prefer big budget movie riffs to begin with.

I've watched it a couple more times, and I think I enjoyed it more on each repeat viewing.  Still an utterly terrible move by any and all measure but do think the guys do a great job of riffing it and, well, Joe Estevez is always a delight.

Eh, I dunno the only roadblock is the eye slitting opening.

After reading the comments, not sure if I should buy this one.  I'm a MST3k veteran so I enjoy badness, but this sounds like one I wouldn't enjoy. My favorites are the completely inane movies such as Red Zone Cuba or more recently, The Last Slumber Party.  About the only MST3k episodes I didn't enjoy at all were Castle of Fu-Manchu (I actually felt pain watching it) and to a lesser degree TISCWSLBMUZ. So although I am curious as to witness exactly how bad this is, should I just go for the Magic Sword instead and skip this one seeing as I've loved pretty much all the adventure themed ones (Delta Knights, Hawk The Slayer, Cave Dwellars, etc...)?

Well, watch the preview. And if that gives you pause, just realize that they really did show some of the best of the movie.

While I wouldn't rate this one as one of RT's best, the movie is a riffing gold-mine.  It's not like "The Incredible Strange Creatures..." where the movie itself is so utterly bleak and miserable that *nothing* can save it.  I struggle to think of an MST3K movie to liken it to. Maybe "Hobgoblins?"  I dunno, I'd really say it's worth checking out, movies this terrible must be seen in order to realize how much someone can fail at making a movie or even a single interesting character.   Plus, Joe Estevez, you almost never go wrong there.

While I haven't seen it yet, I'm kind of surprised at the attitude of the people complaining about the movie being so bad - that's the best kind of riffing target.

Balloonland is amazing - an instant classic.

I've bought this one, and I can't wait till I get the chance to see it.
