Is there such a thing as "too awful to riff"?

In reply to the original question, I would nominate the CGI animated film Food Fight. Ironically starring Charlie Sheen in the lead voice role. Ugly animation, a terribly boring plot, casual racial and ethnic stereotypes,  and a director who seems literally to hate the audience.  Seriously it feels like 80 minutes of the director teabagging your paralyzed form. Someone stole the finished film just before release as a humanitarian gesture, which accounts for the poor animation quality.

For God's sake Polonium, don't give them any ideas  :speechless: (actually, that's not a bad idea)

You know the story behind that movie, right? They somehow "lost" the entire original print, and had to redo all the video from scratch, and that's why it's so half-assed. They'd like us to believe it was stolen, but why would anyone steal that?

The Lurker

The sad thing is that there's earlier footage floating around that looks so much better than the final film.

If they're going to finally riff a full length animated movie, I'd rather they riff Legend of the Titanic from 1998. It's an Italian cartoon that is normal for about the first 20 minutes or so, and then veers into batshit craziness. Ohhhh it's about the "true story" of the Titanic,  complete with a one eyed villain who resembles the chief in the old Birdman cartoon, talking magical dolphins, evil conspiratorial sharks, a giant octopus, and characters that die and magically resurrect. It is competently done, but it is the most infuriating movie I've ever seen in terms of artistic license. And it has a sequel that is even more insane.

Don't forget that, although it doesn't feel like one at all, Beowulf was a full-length animated movie.

Is that the one with the raping, hip-hop, bipedal dog in 19-freaking-12?!

The Lurker

Nah, that's the other animated Titanic movie, which is better storywise, but has worse animation.  The uncut version is a lot better and the dog's rap actually fits the scene a whole lot better.  Plus, it removes the flashbacks and puts them where they should be.

Two "p"s in "rapping." Unless the dog is even more reprehensible than I've heard. :^)

It's a rapping hip-hop dog in 1912. I don't care if the uncut version makes it "fit" better it's still an anachronism.

No he's talking about  :speechless: this one

This is one of my favorite Nostalgia Critic episodes. Not only is this a horrible movie, but it is in unbelievably poor taste, simply writing off the deaths of all the people who died in the worst naval disaster of all time. Yep, everybody survived. Even the characters who died on screen, and the circumstances of their survival were so ludicrous that it was kept secret.

Oh, and save the Whales, or whatever. In case you didn't notice, the evil sharks had made a deal

This is what amazon.com refers to as a "Statistically Improbable Phrase".

The Lurker

I could link to it...or I could just say that it's more about the passenger class system on the ship and who goes where.

Trekker4747

It's still a rapping dog in 1912 and on a ship that really existed where 1500 people really died.

I know.  I was just responding to TriffRax's comment.

TriffRax

I don't disbelieve you, I just wanted to point out the inherent improbability of that sentence.
