Megaforce
Feature film · 2015

Megaforce made film history by giving lead character Barry Bostwick a funny headband, a funny hairstyle, and a flying motorcycle.

With Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, Bill Corbett

1982. The decade of the action hero was underway. Within years, catchphrase-mumbling sentient biceps like Stallone, Schwarzenegger, and Guttenburg would come to dominate the cinemas. Audiences hungered for mayhem, bloodshed, and for a very brief period of time, Billy Zabka. What they got instead was Megaforce.

Named "Movie of the Year" by critics from a diverse array of publications including "Upsetting Jumpsuit Enthusiast," "Dweeby Dirtbike Review," and "Our Memories are Severely Clouded by Nostalgia Monthly," Megaforce made film history by giving lead character Barry Bostwick both a funny headband and a funny hairstyle. They would prove to be the film's most enduring legacy. Some viewers may criticize its paper-thin plot, tedious action sequences of no consequence, and overall cheap feel despite having a shockingly high budget for the era. To this we respond: funny headband and funny hairstyle.

Leaders of the Free World have issued denials of the existence of Megaforce, but then again, seven year old Johnny Roddy saw it on Beta it at a friend's sleepover in 1984 and said it was "Almost as badical as Condorman!" Who are you going to choose to believe? (We would point out that there is a rumor circulating over by the curly slide that Johnny Roddy eats his boogers.) Join Mike, Kevin, and Bill (who do not) for the oft-requested RiffTrax of Megaforce!

When I first saw this was today's release, my eyes rolled: Oh jeez, not ANOTHER '80s film, I was thinking.
But I laughed myself hoarse all the way through it. It oddly enough reminded me of an American "Fugitive Alien". Well, kinda.

That's a very uncomfortable picture of our "hero" to look at.

Not only did we get a great ending credit segment, but this movie even came with it's own stinger. Slowly but surely Rifftrax is becoming MST3K Online.

The opening scene of this movie seems familiar.  Did anybody else riff this or did I just watch and turned the channel?
And I'm worse than Hitler.

I finally plowed through this one the other night.  Fell asleep watching it the other night (from exhaustion, not the movie itself.)

Not really sure what I watched here but it was sort of a mess.  Good, funny, riffing, but the movie is just.... What?! What was happening?!

I'm on the fence... is this one of the best Rifftrax VOD's ever?

Darth Geek

So...Megaforce is bsically just G.I.Joe except without the cool Cobra villains.

I see... That scene in the rifftrax trailer with the guy flying on the motorcycle looks like a hoot though.

I found this movie surprisingly boring. It really only picks up in the last half hour, but by that point I was so bored and confused it couldn't make up for it. The action scenes being edited to bits didn't help either.

Okay, I'm sold, next time I got some money I'm gonna pick this VOD up from Rifftrax.  ;D

Yeah, and the riffing really only saves the film during that last half hour too, the movie is so droll.  I think the guys snapped from the film... just around the time the Hitler impression comes in.  That had me rolling!
...and there he was, reigning supreme at number two.  The One... The Only... The Unabeefer.

Yeah, the Hitler and Michael Bay snorting coke together bit was a highlight.

Just redownloaded this one after losing it (doing a lot of that lately).  Still really fun.  Also, completely bizarre attempt to say "hey, women can be badass too, but we won't let them join our team because uh, um, you know."

And now unavailable for some reason.
