The Ultimate Warrior just raped Santa Claus!

This is why people don't take comics seriously.

Now, see, THAT's gonna give me nightmares...

ScottotD

Really? I thought it was because of this guy:

ACK! Rob Liefeld is almost as hideous as his "art."

Maybe thor is like brain guy, the further he is from his hammer/brain pan the dumber he is.
Most of the time, though, he's usually portrayed somewhere between 'frat boy' and 'biker'...

Smartass. I've never seen one, much less been in one.

;D

I bought it years ago when I equated good covers with good comic books.  After about 2 months of lousy Image comic books, I soon learnt my lesson.

I've always respected Liefeld's ability to draw his characters in a life-like and proportionate manner. He makes each drawing look like a real person and is probably one of the finest artists of this generation.

Mmmmmm....sarcasm.

Yule logs.  ;D

If you don't mind me asking, do you do anything for Christmas? The reason I ask is that even though I'm technically an atheist, I still use Christmas as an excuse to get together with all my friends, eat turkey, exchange gifts and stay up late around the fire watching A Christmas Story. It seems like more work to actually ignore Christmas than it is to just have a small party.

Yes, yes, and YES!  I was actually going to go into all that but your article, Beenie, just made it perfectly clear.  This is what we believe as paganistas.

When the Walmart cashier rang up my jelly beans she asked me how I would be celebrating Easter, or "Resurrection Day," as the sign said. "Oh, nothing special, really." She looked like she was about to drive a stake into my heart.

Most stores won't even sell Christmas trees anymore - they're "holiday" trees.

Yeah, but that's more politically correct ass-covering than anything else. Remember, there was also that campaign last year to get people to stop saying "Happy holidays" and "Season's greetings" instead of "Merry Christmas."

There was no "campaign last year." Retailers have been (wisely) moving away from religion-specific greeting for decades; it's just in the last two years that shallow political types cooked up this bullshit, phony-baloney "War On Christmas" nonsense to try and distract voters from the INSANE spending habits of their elected representatives. It didn't work, obviously.  :)

It might just be me growing more observant as I've gotten older, but I've noticed a distinct growth in anti-non-Christian attitudes since Allah attacked the World Trade Center.

I don't know if that's true, but if it is, it's a tragic example of large numbers of people missing the point. 9/11 was the perfect logical end product of religious faith in general; to simply write it off as "those wacky muslims" is to ignore the last two thousand years of human history.

I loved the "War on XMas" thing too.

I'm catholic and I always wish people "Happy Holidays" since there are like, a ton of holidays towards teh end of the year and I dont want to take a deep breath and tell everyone "Happy Chanuka, Merry XMAS, Wonder Tet, Nice KWanza, Happy Boxing Day, Happy New Years,etc.".

I do the same thing, just out of respect.

The reason there's a Christian substrate in our culture is because America was founded by Christians

Actually, evidence strongly indicates that most of our country's important founders were, in fact, deists. Deism is basically the belief that, "sure, some God guy created the Universe and all, but He certainly has no hand, involvement or interest in human affairs now." Atheism, as we know it today, simply didn't exist as an organized philosophy back then; deism was the closest thing there was. It's also why, in their writings, several of the Founding Fathers made specific reference to the First Amendment constituting a WALL OF SEPARATION between religion and government, despite the fraudulent claims to the contrary of modern would-be theocrats.

BTW, did you know that the song "Happy Holidays" was written by Irving Berlin, the same (jewish) man who wrote "White Christmas"(which incidentally, he meant to be a parody of overly-sentimental Christmas songs)?
