So the factory must have switched to a different fabric during production, since some of them tested OK at 500?
The pictures I saw of a melted one looked like nylon fabric, that would certainly melt at oven temps above 400.

That's what I'm thinking. The one we got feels like a nylon blend. I used it once at 400 and it didn't melt, but it didn't do much. It's very thin.
