Might be interesting as long as it's not yet another retelling of KING KONG. Maybe they'll use elements from SON OF KONG, and make it where people go to the island looking for treasure.

QuoteTHE STORY OF 3 NEW KING KONG FILMS?!?!:

OK....Now if this isn't enough to make your head spin until it exploads!?!? Let's try to clear things up....Legendary has just announced, with a concept teaser video at Comic Con, this new big budget prequel entitled "SKULL ISLAND" and have offered the directing gig to Joe Cornish ( Attack The Block)....

Then if you'll remember Fox Animation has more recently been working on an animated (traditional??/CGI/3D??) feature film with producer Ted Field's Radar Pictures to be directed by Shawn Levy entitled "KONG" as a family comedy film....:

However, years before either of these two projects were announced there was "KONG: KING OF SKULL ISLAND" which was a proposed 3D motion-capture feature film adaption of the Joe Devito/Brad Strickland novel/comic book series. The film was originally set up at Fantastic Films but later changed hands to Spirit Pictures. It's creators have been actively pursuing it over the years and I have been keeping tabs on the film's developement for quite some time now with updates on the loads of collectible merchandise that has been released comics, graphic novel collections, limited edition cards, apps, etc...:

There was some confusion recently that Neil Marshall was set to direct a feature film entitled "SKULL ISLAND: BLOOD OF THE KING" which was said to be an adaption of the "Kong: King Of Skull Island" novel which he was said to have purchased the rights to...But he himself debunked that rumor(or atleast that he was directing it)....I'm still a bit confused about this one....Perhaps the website that reported the scoop had early word on Legendary's project and maybe at that time it had been offered to Neil Marshall but confused it with the Joe Devito/Brad Strickland novel adaption...However they even said it was the film which Radar Pictures/Ted Fields were developing which as stated above is a family friendly animated film('Skull Island: Blood Of The King' doesn't scream family flick to me)?!?!....??...:

Anyways, now for an update on the long-in-the-works "KONG: KING OF SKULL ISLAND" film adaption direct from Joe Devito himself!!:

"Just a quick note of thanks for all the incredibly enthusiastic e-mails asking about last weekend's Kong news from ComicCon. A quick heads up to anyone who was still wondering which end is up:

My book, 'KONG: King of Skull Island', is not associated in any way with the Kong movie Legendary claims to be working on (though it certainly sounds like it, doesn't it?). Legendary does not have, and never has had, any rights to my property.

However, extremely exciting news on KONG: King of Skull Island coming soon- stay tuned!"

I keep hearing people bring that up whenever this project is mentioned. The new Godzilla is 350 feet tall! Unless they make the new one at least close to that, and even in the Peter Jackson movie he was about 30 feet tall. I don't see this happening unless they just straight up resize him tenfold. Which is what they had to do with him in the original King Kong vs Godzilla and that only barely worked because both the costumes looked like shit, there was no suspension of disbelief.

Tom Hiddleston is great and all, but I'm much more glad to see that Sam Jackson and John Goodman are in this.

I thought Kings of Summer was one of the worst things I'd seen in years but this trailer looks really fun

I like the idea that this seems to be cutting out the boring beginning on the boat, and the less interesting ending in NYC from the original King Kong, and just keeping it on the island. That was the best part of Peter Jackson's movie too.
