Did ticket prices rise dramatically for anyone else??   The last live show I attended was Birdemic, at the time at the Canton Cinema here in Michigan tickets were $11.00 or $11.50.............I can't exactly remember. When Starship Troopers came along the price shot up to $14.50, at the time I thought maybe the price had gone up because it was a modern movie and they had done the kickstarter to raise money for it, then every show since then has been the same price.  Was the price hike just my local theater, or did it go up everywhere?  If so, was it Rifftrax getting greedy, or fathom entertainment?

Out of the 10 Live shows, I have seen 9 of them at the same theater. The early ones were $12.50 and the last 3 or 4 have been $13.50.

I'd assume it was Fathom and/or your local exhibitor. I go to a Cinemark in New York state and they charge $12.50 for a live event.

At my theater, Rifftrax has gone up a few cents here and there over the past year.  The last few have been $14.50 ($13.50 + "convenience fee").  It was $13.75 total a year ago.

Thanks for the replies, I was very curious about whether or not everyone is paying more or if it was in fact our theater.  As much as I REALLY wanted to see TNOTLD and SCCTM, there was just no way I could see paying $45 dollars for me and my family to see these shows.   Oh well, eventually they all get released on either DVD or VOD so I'm just gonna have to live with not seeing them live anymore.

That's about the price of one family dinner out at a decent "sit down" place. If you think about it like that its not so bad.

Theaters set their own prices, like they do for every other movie they show. We did not "get greedy."

Don't feel bad. That's EVERYONE'S go to answer for any and every price increase, because of course there's no such thing as external factors.
I survived the San Diego Comic Con 2010 Hall H stabbing.

I do apologize for suggesting it was rifftrax 'getting greedy'. Poor choice of words on my part. I LOVE Rifftrax and even if I don't head out to any live shows for a while I'll still be buying DVD's, VOD's, and commentary tracks. I simply wanted an answer to my question and I thank all of you for the info.  :)
