Quote"Wow, a swashbuckling and sorcery film with a full cast of entertaining character, a kraken, tastefully employed special effects, a plot that is comprehensible without being overly predictable, and a sequel that manages to deliver the same level of quality set by the previous film without being repeating itself or becoming formulaic. This is so, obviously, undeniably like a full-of itself allegorical scifi crammed full of gratutious allusions and symbolism while primarily offering  a vessel for action-movie midair manuevers and extreme violence. How can you even tell these two films apart?"

LOL nice one.

Who else thought the gambling his soul away sequence was cool?

Ok maybe not...

Personally, I wasn't very impressed with either of the first two Pirates movies (I actually thought the second one was better), but this trailer looks pretty decent.

as a guy who holds disneyland (not disney the company) in reverence due to my growing up near enough that i could go about once a year, I was literally apalled by the thought of a movie based on a ride.  Especially since i had just seen haunted mansion with eddie murphy the year before.  I so didnt want them to screw with my childhood.  The first movie came, and then went from theaters,  it was on DVD before someone finally got me to attempt to watch it.  I was so shocked it was amazing.  It was a GREAT movie.  And the number of things theyve been sneaking into the two movies from the rides were freaken awesome.

I was in texas when i saw the second movie.  when we got to see the bayou part i was like HEY IVE BEEN THERE lol.

The weirdest part is they are altering the ACTUAL ride now to look more like the movie, which pisses me off, i didnt want that to happen in the first place.

ps if you like disneyland heres a neat link www.doombuggies.com

Yeah, I'd have to say that Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest aint to shabby for the sequel to a movie based on a ride, no?

Hell, it aint to shabby for a summer blockbuster.

The four pirate ships plot sounds interesting but (unless I get draged to it against my will) I'll be waiting for video.

Conform you non-conformist! The Matrix has you and you are compelled to see it 8) So many different elements of the movie just look good.

Thoughts on how the movie might end:

LotR style with 12 different endings, Capt Jack rides off into the sunset for his time has past.

Matrix style with Capt Jack dying and a fairly anticlimatic ending making you feel that you missed something important and unsatisfied.

Original ending making us all happy for spending the money to go see it.

hmmm....

It'd be kinda sweet if they pulled something way out from left field and made Jack wind up with Mizzzz Swann, and Will wind up with Tia. Though I doubt that'll happen since someone WISELY (sarcasm) put the "Elizabeth, will you marry me?" clip into the trailer. Ah, Disney...le sigh.....

Though you haveta admit, if Tia Dahlma got her hair did, her nails clipped, and had a serious affair with a toothbrush, she'd be rather hot, no?

lol, did you just use "hair did" in a sentence j-proof ;D

I'm glad they put "Elizabeth, will you marry me?" in the trailer, the love triangle was a pretty thin plot point in my opinion.

J-Proof

Yes I did! And by getting her "hair did," I meant, in ebonics, that she needs to get out a curlin' iron and some lice-off, quick =P

On the first point, it brings up the question of why he is asking for a second time. After all, the second movie started on her ruined wedding day. The plot thickens :-P

On the second point, you can make anyone in hollywood hot....as long as you have got the money :-P

I have no idea how this plot is going to shake out - but what I'm hoping will happen is that  the pirates from the four corners of the world somehow find a way to lift the curse off Davy Jones and his seafood crew.   This will accomplish three things: Will's father will be saved, Jack's debt will be nullified, and Davy Jones will revert to human form, replace the heart he cut out and reunite with his lost love, whom I suspect is Tia Dalma.

As for Will asking Elizabeth to marry him again; very likely it's because he's feeling betrayed after witnessing her kiss Jack and has decided to dump her cheatin' ass.   :)  (That, coupled with his discovery that she's the one who got Jack killed in the first place.)  Probably she'll perform some kind of heroic sacrifice in the third film that "proves" her love for him and he'll change his mind again.  I don't think there's any way she'll end up with Jack, unless they're planning yet a fourth movie, in which case I'm sure they'll leave the love triangle open-ended.

For some unknown reason I was watching Dancing With The Stars when the new trailer came on. I gotta tell ya', I'm damn excited about this new flick. Even though the second movie was average (in my IMHO) it's still a really fun series & should be a great trilogy when everything is said and done.
Ya' down with O.T.T? Yeah you know me.
