I learned that you can hit a major city on Earth with an asteroid, even when hurling it clear from the other side of the galaxy.

I learned what they concentrated so much on Jake Busey's big teeth, they apparently missed HIS BART SIMPSON HAIR! That really nagged me because I remember noticing it waaay back when I watched the movie when it came out.

I did not learn why her copilot/boyfriend guy gave her the knife and just let the brain bug suck out his brain, rather than just cut the probe himself.

I learned that in the FAR FUTURE they still use whipping as a punishment.

I learned that somehow someone thought Casper Van Dien could carry a movie.

I learned my own face could hurt watching Denise Richards smile so much.

Edit:  But she is gorgeous.
And I'm worse than Hitler.

And when she's sad the corners of her mouth droop down to her tits.
And I'm worse than Hitler.

I learned that Diz is essentially Jacob from Twilight in this movie, from the crazy stalking all the way to the shirtlessness.

I learned that depending on the context Nazis are okay.
And I'm worse than Hitler.

I learned that in the future, Mormons will have adopted and embraced calling their holy prophet "Joe," even though for centuries before that they considered it a disrespectful insult hurled by their detractors at them as a way of disparaging their entire belief system right to their face! It would be like Muslims calling Mohammed "Ol' Moe" or calling Buddha "big golden fat guy" and then naming a military base after that. That's totally going to happen in the future.

PS. Not trying to start a religious debate or anything. I'm just sayin' is all. I'm also totally fine with any/all Mormon jokes made by MKB because they are done in good humor and are actually very mild considering the jokes they COULD be making.

I learned that the entirety of military training in the future has been distilled down to "Move".

Trekker4747

I learned that giant bug poop can reach escape velocity.

Bob

Maybe when I watch this again they will explain how bugs can aim and shoot things at earth and why they decided to do that......not like they can fly a starship to invade.

Maybe they will explain why earth did just launch nuclear rockets from space and blow them up.

Maybe they will explain why they hired such a creepy looking smile woman for this movie.

No, none of those questions are answered.

What I am wondering is why the military isn't interested in capturing to study the bugs that can shoot fireballs out it's ass, or the one that can spit lava. Seems like weapons development might be interested in that.

This is the same military that put Denise in charge of a weapon......they don't think much.

And the same military that has live fire drills with dummies that shoot back stun beams, beams that cause the kids that are shooting live ammo to spasm as they fall to the ground, spraying their bullets all over.

I learned not to underestimate a species that can hurl asteroids clear across the galaxy with pinpoint precision.

I learned that "military intelligence" is an oxymoron.

I learned that, after having half your fleet destroyed by AA bugs while i9nvading Klendathu, position the rest of your fleet in range of same said AA bugs while invading planet P.

I learned that you can have at least 6 completely different versions of the same species. More if you count the second and third movies. And more still if you count the animated series.

You don't need ships to colonize planets, just hurl your spore into space. Also insects have spore. Hell, if they can hit a planet on the other side of the galaxy, I guess they can do that. (Note: In both the original book, and in the animated series, they did have ships. In the book they even had laser weapons)

Darth Geek

I learned in the far future, we can't come up with a better name for an alien planet than P.
