I'll also be skipping the Best Of things since I have all of the VODs.

The Special was OK, several good laughs, have to watch it again because I missed a few riffs while I was laughing.  Host segments were kind of flat, I don't remember laughing during any of them, I'd say shorten those way down to quick intros and add a 4th movie.  Or do something more with the host segments, something that fits with the theme of the special.

The price points really are because of how much work goes into them, especially the specials because that's all new content and it has to be screened, reviewed, written, and recorded from scratch. They were a lot of fun to do but, compared to a normal release, a TON of work.

And I appreciate all the work that goes into making a Rifftrax. I've tried to script a riff before and my God does it take forever. It's just that for this it's taking three movies that run 107, 107, and 114 minutes, and riffing 8 minutes of each. 24 minutes of 328 just isn't worth it to me. I'd much rather spend 12 or 30 for all three full length.

That's a lot of shorts. I love the posters hanging on the thingamajig.

Skipping best of, of course. But watched the special and it was ok. Would have preferred three new shorts.

Don't get me wrong. I wanted to like this more, and the jokes are totally serviceable for their scenes, but the whole thing just seemed... off. I just wasn't feeling it, which is weird because I LOVED last year's Christmas special, which has sort of the same format as this. I know lots of people didn't like it, but I liked it a lot. I guess I feel that this could have been a lot better. It just didn't feel right. I'm a lover of all things RiffTrax, and maybe I'm comparing apples and oranges, but after I watched this I picked up a VOD I hadn't yet bought and watched that, and it was a much more fulfilling experience. I think if they do more of these and fine tune what they are and aren't they will probably get better. First attempts are always a gamble.

I laughed when they made fun of Matthew Lillard.

This is a pretty cool idea.  Great way to do the best parts of movies that wouldn't justify their own non-VOD riffs.

Didn't you have to aquire the rights to ditribute those three 90's movies? If so, why not just make full length  VoDs for them.

I'll try the special, but paying $3.50 for a 24 minute VoD is pretty steep. I certainly won't be paying $3.50 for stuff I already have.

There's some rule about certain clips that have been or can be used for promotional purposes, such as talk shows, commercials, reviews, etc...  Not sure if it pertains to only SPECIFIC clips of movies, or if it has to do with the length of the clips, but I have a feeling they used the "fair use" rule here for these.

It's pretty much how MST3k was able to do their riff bits for Starship Troopers and Titanic yeeears ago long before Rifftrax was ever thought of.
...and there he was, reigning supreme at number two.  The One... The Only... The Unabeefer.

One thing I can say for the special - at least no one turned into a parrot or a living box of popcorn.
FINE

Those were EPKs sent by the studios.

I enjoyed both specials. Even the best of. Yes, I've seen them before, but it was fun to watch the over-the-top villiany from Karate Kid and Highlander edited together. But I've never felt cheated by "Clip Shows" on TV either, so maybe that's just me. I love seeing old information organized in a fun new way.
