I mean, I am preaching to the choir here, so... yaddah, yaddah, we all love the guys and the Riffs and the writing...

What I wanted to say, is that I brought a buncha friends to "Starship Troopers" who never saw any RiffTrax but laughed out loud and they are all as eager as I am for the NIGHT!

So, I got all THAT goin' on...  I convinced them that it was a fun show, the best time you can have in a movie theater.

I think they agreed with me. But, they all are dying for a chance to see Night again on the big screen, as am I, and with the guys riffing it...? I could die happy!

Now, let us all recount how we were first introduced to The Night!

For me, it was at a drive-in movie theater, a Dusk till Dawn horror movie festival. Many of the films were MST3K classics, or 'Cinematic Titanic" classics. The Night of the Living Dead was the best of the lot, and I gotta tells ya, when you are in a small car in the Jersey Pinebarrens you get creeped out watching the movie... I kept looking at my friend and saying, this is  pretty scary shits!  He says, "Yeah, you're sleepin' over tonight..." passes the flask...

I live in Jersey, where the drive-in was invented and the last drive-in died... so sad...

Anyways, I am rambling now... I can't wait for The Night!!!! *throws the horns*

Uh, there's a drive-in near where I am (Birmingham, AL). They're not ALL dead.

Can't say for sure when I first knew about NoTLD, but first time I saw it was when the Legend dvd came out and I wanted to watch it unriffed by Mike first. ;)

Looking forward to it too. I think I may be one of the few looking more forward to this more than I did Starship Poopers.

Also, when I went to see Starship I discovered a Coyote Ugly right next to the theater. Even though the theater isn't in the town where I live it will be worth it I think to do that again--happy hour before the show is what I'm saying. If anyone wants to join let me know.

Uh, I'm talking the original Drive-ins that opened back in the 50's and 60's not the newer ones that opened in the late 90's+ as part of some retro-movement. There's one in PA, not far from me that opened sometime in 2002.  It's basically a small parking lot with the digital projector projecting a movie into the back of an abandoned warehouse. Uh... NOT A REAL DRIVE-IN!

Real Drive-ins took up acres and acres of land and you could see the screen from miles and miles around... Golden age of Drive-ins...

Uh... copies of old things don't impress me... I'm a cranky old guy!  I remember one of my nieces talking about some new band who did a cover of a song, saying to me, "Have you heard that new song by [insert meaningless pop band here]? It's called 'Stairway to Heaven'! It's AWESOME!"

I nearly had a stroke...

Today I learned I've been seeing movies at a fake drive-in. ;)

I've been to a couple drive ins in the past few years. Now I was a child of the 80s and never got to one when I was young so I can't compare the experience exactly, all I can go on is movies depicting drive ins. The two I've been to we're very fun though. Large screens and all.  If I didn't work Sunday nights all the time now I'd be going a lot more often (they're always packed on Saturday, either show up hours early of you're stuck in line with no guarantee of getting in)

If only the drive in would get fathom events. That'd be a great way to see NOTLD riffed.

First time I ever saw the movie was a late night showing on the Sci Fi channel. I was pretty shocked at how much they actually showed. I guess being in black and white, they thought they could get away with a bit more gore than showing a color movie. After that I found a VHS at the library so I could compare.

I've never seen it. I remember watching the 1990 remake when it premiered on HBO.

Speaking of drive-ins, my father has always told the story of how his older brother took him and another younger brother to see NOTLD at one of the local spots in Rochester, NY. They sat on the roof of the older brother's van, scaring the crap out of him and his wife-to-be whenever something happened.

There was one left in Rochester when I was growing up in the late 80s and early 90s that essentially rotted to death, getting demolished in 1993. Saw stuff like Ghostbusters 2 and The Rocketeer there.

Four years later, someone built a three-screen drive-in on the outskirts of town. Went there a handful of times in the late 90s, but then I started working nights and that went out the window. But they've thrived, and added another screen in the interim, starting up Retro Nights.

Oh, and here's a neat website that recreates the drive-in experience, using PD movies, trailers and ads. It's a fun watch.

Seems like I read that Canada tickets will go on sale in a couple of weeks.

On the Facebook event page, they posted yesterday that the Cineplex tickets will be available "soon."

Yes. Yes, you have, 31 year old, baby-person. I was married for several years and had a home when you were in grammar school, and I was going to real drive-ins when you were suckling at your mama's teat!

I apologize immediately for my inappropriateness but I am particularly upset at young people today! *shakes fist*

Yes! REAL drive-ins, in the 60's where the screens could be seen from space! And 400 huge cars could park easily in the sand-lot withered out of the Pinebarrens, and the concession stand was like a farmers market!

You could buy, Pizza, Cheese-Steaks, Hot-dogs, a bucket of popcorn that you could take a bath in, pasta dishes, (that we all suspected came out of a can), fresh fruit, nachos, tamales, for WAY too much money and it all tasted like cardboard but we were proud to have it!

And you could have sex with a girl in total privacy on the hood of your car, while little childrens played in the playground in front of the screen and the movies were secondary.... some were good, sure...

I saw, "Alien", "Blade Runner", "Outland" (all in one sci-fi event from dusk till dawn), and I saw a bunch of MST3K-type horror movies from dusk till dawn, including, "Private Parts" "Bad Ronald", "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (that was good, scared the bejebus out of us),

...And, "Night of the living Dead..."

Plus, you could bring a TRUNK-FULL of beer and friends and it would all get in free... which was what killed the drive-in back in the day.... actually... our sneaking in of the folks, it was like 10 bucks a car-load... and with the huge land-ships back then, you could get a family of twelve and their cousins in to see movies like wild animals for a couple-a-bucks-a-head....

'Course, the bathtub popcorn was 22 bucks a tub... so... I don't know...

What were we talking about?
